The International Union of Motononautics has granted, to the Galician Federation of Motononautics and to the Royal Nautical Club of Sanxenxo, the organization, as the sole headquarters, of the European Endurance Championship, a type of boat with a length of approximately 5 to 9 meters, engines that reach a speed of 70-80 knots and a crew composed of pilot and copilot.

Management has not been easy, as Italy was also pushing for the European meeting. But the UIM has finally considered the excellent framework of the Pontevedra Ria and the operational base offered by the Real Sanxenxo Nautical Club with its modern facilities, in order to be able to develop with guarantees of success a high-speed test of these characteristics.

For the large categories of the Endurance, such as the Class Promotion or Class S1, it will be held on 21 and 22 September, under a route of buoys that are flattened from the vicinity of the promenade Juan Carlos I (spikon of the marina), Real Club Náutico de Sanxenxo, Playa de Silgar, Portonovo, Punta de Cabicastro and close to the entrance of the Ria de Aldán, about 4 miles, to which they will have to take about 11 turns, achieving a total distance of 44 nautical miles, with an estimated duration and at the time of each pilot.

The Endurance European Championship consists of two tests, to which will be added a Gallego-Xunta Sport Trophy of Galicia, which will be held on Saturday; the Graünner Cup, which will take place on Sunday; and the Special Prize Hotel Carlos I Silgar, which will award the best Spanish team classified in the European.
