Red Bull Rate 2: Keters can with windsurfers

Although the individual victory was for the current world champion of windfire Gonzalo Costa, the global computation awarded the title "the fastest" to the kites
Spectacular... this was the expected battle between windsurfers and keters that finally received the wind's arrival in Valdevaqueros to activate the most acclaimed nautical duel of the century: Red Bull Tarifa2, which has crowned the kitesurfing as the fastest sport of Tarifa 2019.
After the day and a half of waiting, the event's sports address alerted the about 200 participants, in view of the improvement of wind conditions on Saturday afternoon and after the organization made successive state updates throughout the day.
In the face of a great expectation on the beach, the race was set off at the Ensenada de Valdevaqueros. The keters were located downwind and the windsurfers upwind. In front, 8 kilometers away and a tour between buoys in 'speed triangle' format. The exit was very fast and was dominated by some illustrious local riders and their hydroloils. The world champion of kitesurf (2015) Liam Whaley and the ten-time world champion Gisela Pulido took the lead, although followed closely by another world champion, in this case of windfire, Gonzalo Costa, and another illustrious windsurfer, Sebastian Kördel, current top-10 of the world circuit PWA.
The passage through the first buoy served to award the first award of the event: the 'Hawkers Award', which was a very motivated Liam Whaley, the fastest competitor of the start of the race. Although the leadership did not last long, he was soon overcome by the great skill of Gisela Polido and his kitefoil. No one but Gonzalo Costa and Sebastian Kördel's windstones could follow their wake and that of their huge comet that seemed to have no rival.
After three turns to the buoy circuit and with Polished at the front, the time came to set a course for the beach to set the way to the line of arrival on the same sand. To this end, the participants had to reach the shore and run a few meters to the goal, a complex maneuver in which the skill would make the difference and gave way to a final infarction that placed Pulido, Costa and Kördel in a position of manifest equality. The final race over the sand gave the victory to Costa, followed by Kördel and relegating the kite champion to the third place.
Another very tight end of the race was starred by the sisters Paliau (windsurfing) and Jan Marcos Riveras (kitesurf), who left another beautiful moment of rivalidad- sportsmanship for the memory.
With the successful career victory, the next unknownite was to know which of the two disciplines managed to place 20 participants on the finish line to achieve the title of "fastest sport," something that tilted the balance in favor of the kites for the joy of the Gisela Pulido squadron.
The individual competition has been only a first delivery of what this Red Bull Tarifa2 has in the bedroom. Tomorrow, Sunday, the competition for teams that will place the participants in the water for couples (windsurfer-kiter) is planned. The organisation has set the skippers meeting morning (check-in of competitors) at 11: 30 in El Tumbao for a possible start of the race at 12: 30.

The world champion Dani Pedrosa, consecrated windsurfer, joins the event invited by the 42-time world champion Björn Dunkerbeck
The wind is capricious in the waters of Tarifa, in Valdevaqueros and slows the start of Red Bull Tarifa2, the acclaimed nautical battle between windsurfers and keters, which has not been able to officially begin... instead, a spectacular 'Fun Race' exhibition has been held that has served as "training combat 'between candles and comets.
In order to promote the show, and in view of the great expectation on the beach, the technical direction of the event decided to organize a 'Fun Race', as a career simulation, in which a 50-year range of Riders participated. The motivation was the great protagonist of this exhibition in which the kiter comets took a certain advantage over the windsurfers' candles.
In spite of all, equality was manifested in this first contact with the comets of the young local promise Kiko Roig and Maxi Gómez. Some of the stars of the event, such as Gisela Pulido, the sisters Marina and Blanca Péraau, Liam Whaley, Ramón Pastor, Jan Marcos Rivera, Fernando Martínez del Cerro or Sebastian Kördel, also stepped on the water.
The start of the competition will be decided tomorrow, Saturday, at the skippers meeting morning (check-in of competitors), set by the organization at 11: 30 in El Tumbao for a possible start of the race at 12: 30.

With almost 200 inscriptions, the competition will start on Friday in Valdevaqueros with a change in the competition format. "The forecasts have been crazy, very changing parts that have made us rule out the initial route from Los Lances to Valdevaqueros," explains Jaime Herráiz, technical director of the event. "Instead, we have designed a race with exit and arrival in the Ensenada de Valdevaqueros in the format of 8 km speed triangle, emulating the original tour, and promoting the visibility of the competition from the beach."
The historical rivalry between candles and comets is directly proportional to the participation of large figures of both sports. A total of eight world champions will meet at the event, intermingled with professional and amateur Riders. With the 10-time Gisela Polido world champion as captain, the kiter army will have the field of Liam Whaley, Jerome Cloetens, José Luengo and Ainhoa García.
