The Royal Nautical Club of Vigo, a few minutes ago, has confirmed by official statement, that by a computer error in the drafting of the classifications of the recently celebrated Regata Mar de Maeloc Rías Baixas, there has been a change in the final table of class 1... becoming the winner of it the ship of the Nautico Vigués "Oiltes Abril" patronado by the Orensians Luis and Jorge Pérez Canal. In the second square "Pairo 8" has been patrolled by the component of the Team of Spain in the Young Americas Cup, Luis Bugallo Arriola; and the third square has been obtained by the ship of Portugal "Marias" of the Yate Clube de Porto... being the fourth for the "Solventis" that had been declared winner last Saturday of class 1, by the above-mentioned error.
The Viguese club has also stressed that this computer-related problem in the calculation of the compensated times has not affected another class, since both the "Bosch Service Solutions" has been the winner of Class 2, and the "Maracaná" of the 3... which were the other two categories that participated in the so-called Group A, which brought together classes 1, 2 and 3. This is the text of the full communiqué of the Royal Nautical Club of Vigo on this technical incident:
The Royal Nautical Club of Vigo, communicates to the participants in the Regata Mar de Maeloc Rías Baixas, as well as to all the fans of the sailing and the social media in general; that there have been technical changes, in the drafting of the classification of the so-called "Class 1" of that regatta.
Last Saturday, when the award was already held, the judges detected an error in the preparation of the results, regarding the ship "Solventis" that had been proclaimed winner of "Class 1."The error in the computer work to establish the times compensated, was the product of a strange situation, which had never occurred... because it started from a change in the sailing number of that participant, which inunderstandably caused the program used to capture a rating from the previous "Solventis," and therefore different from the one currently held by this ship.
This led to an alteration in the results of the second stage, in which "Solventis" dropped two places in the partial classification, and as a result it essentially affected the final results, relegating this ship to the fourth place and passing to the first of this category to the "Aprilos," the second to the "Pairo 8" and the third to the "Marías."
So far the technical explanation, which the Club completes, with the following statements:
1) Human and computer error is only attributable to the meeting of unfortunate coincidences. In any case, the "Solventis" is completely alien to what happened, as it presented the document of the official certificate in force.
2) As soon as the incident was heard, the Club adopted a position of prudence and information to all the parties involved, and it is worth noting that those involved had an exquisite and collaborative behaviour at all times.
3) For the reasons explained the final classification of the Class 1 of the Regata Maeloc Rías Baixas is the following, keeping unchanged those of the other participating classes: 1 Oils (Luis and Jorge Pérez Canal) RCN Vigo 11 points, 2 Pairo 8 (Luis Bugallo) RCN Vigo 11, 3 ° Marias (Manuel María Cunha) YC Porto 12, 4 ° Solventis (Malalo Bermudez de Castro) MRCY Baiona 13 3, 5 ° Arroutado (José Manuel Pérez) RCN Portosín (José Rº Rº G621), José Rão Gáxí (José Rº Gáxas (José Rão), 4 ° Páxas (José Rão), 4 ° Páxas (José Rão)The Royal Nautical Club of Vigo, also wishes to state publicly, that the behavior of the owner of the "Solventis," don Alberto Moro, as well as of its pattern Malalo Bermudez de Castro, which has been exemplary, both from a sports and human point of view.
