A Pobra do Caramiñal of the project Mar de Maeloc, born in order to increase the nautical-sports notoriety of Galicia in the Atlantic Arc, both from a sports and tourist point of view.

Mar de Maeloc, in the month of June, obtained the support of the nautical clubs referring to the most important Galician cities... which organize the three oldest races of the Iberian Northwest: the Rías Baixas Regata of the Royal Nautical Club of Vigo created in 1964, the Rías Altas Regata of the Royal Nautical Club of La Coruña in 1974 and the Finisterre Trophy in 1966, which organize the Coruña Nautico and Mount Real de Baiona.

The main ports of Mar de Maeloc 2019, cover much of the Galician coast: Cedeira, Sada, La Coruña, Malpica, A Pobra do Caramiñal, Sanxenxo, Combarro-Poio, Vigo and Baiona; the "Rías Altas" has already been held, as well as the "Finisterre..." and from 14 to 17 August, it is the turn of the "Rias Baixas," considered the most important race at the Peninsular level, in terms of events by heavy sailing stages.

The Regata Mar de Maeloc Rías Baixas will leave on Wednesday, August 14, for the emblematic Real Club Náutico de Sanxenxo from the majestic Ria de Vigo; from there is the second stage to the Ria de Aroua, to A Pobra do Caramiñal, where the fleet will arrive on the afternoon of Thursday, August 15, to leave for Commud at one of the afternoon of Friday. The closing stage for Vigo will take place on Saturday.

The range of participants covers Portugal, Galicia (of the four provinces, as even Ourense is represented by the Castrelo de Miño Nautical Club in competition), Asturias, Cantabria and Euskadi.

The presence of the fleets of the Arousa ria was highlighted in the presentation. To highlight among those who have been registered for the time being "A Píllara," "Jabucho," "Moucho" and "Sampaio Uno," among others... as well as the "Camping Ria de Aroua" that competes for the Boiro Nautical Club... that has in its existence to get in its category on five occasions, and to participate in the 25 "Rías" friera in a consecutive way.

Mar de Maeloc, is the support for the sustainability of the marine environment... in all the development of the races has been bet on the recycled materials... the T-shirts with which the participants are made of cotton from "worn and cut-off clothing"as well as "plastic bottles found at sea". The materials used from the stationery to the flags of the ships have been made from recycled or recyclable materials... Ecoembes and Ecoglass will install in several ports of Mar de Maeloc, their system of selective collection of waste.
