The fourth edition of the Fernando Pedrera Memorial Astoria Cup and the Cape Trip, which can be noted for the VCV's Autonomical Cup, organized by the Royal Torrevieja Nautical Club and held in the day yesterday, August 15, already has its new champions. A race that has grown and has been consolidated as one of the citations to take into account this month for the fleets of the Region of Murcia and Comunitat Valenciana, as it was reflected yesterday with the 52 ships registered and that offered a spectacular image at sea.

Two clear protagonists after the intense day. On the one hand, the local Maverta (RCN Torrevieja) is already part of that prestigious Astoria crystal trophy, winning the 55th Trip to Cabo Roig, while the Bat Fandango 300 was made with the Astoria Cup Regata in its fourth edition. Two triumphs gave thanks from the maximum equality between the Rodman 42 of Maverta and the A 40 RC Fandago in the 1-2 ORC. The first one was made with the triumph in the 11-mile coastal test, and the second one was done in the afternoon, although both ended up tied to 3 points in those two wind tests, Fandango's partial triumph (2-1) in the second test gave him the triumph. Maverta, for her part, signed on both tests a 1 and a 2.

But the torreviejense quote, with an important and outstanding level, to be taken into account, allowed after these three tests throughout the day other winners and who are already part of the history of this local race that grows and aims to be and stay in more than a 'local race'. Among them the Trabuco (RCN Torrevieja) winner in real time of the Trip to Cabo Roig developed under quite acceptable wind conditions with 8 knots of Levante intensity.

After obtaining the compensated times the podium was closed in the group ORC 1-2 with the Maverta, followed by Fandango 300 and Hakuna S (RCR Cartagena). As for the ORC 3 the Nemox (RCR Cartagena), Tanit IV Medilevel (RCR Alicante) and CAF (RCN Torrevieja) set up the podium. Black Octopus (CN Marina International), O'Marylou and Brisa, both of the Torrevieja RCR, took the first three places in ORC 4, while Tumbaito I, Atolón III and Hegoaize II, all of the local club, were proclaimed champions in ORC Promotion (ORC Division 2 A-B).

In the 'most technical' race, already in the afternoon, with two barlovento-sotavento tests and with a little more intensity, reaching the 10 knots of Levante the duel remained between Maverta and Fandango. The torreviejense was the one who hit first in ORC 1-2, while the bat was second. The papers were invested in the second test. The partial triumph in that second test, together with the coefficients of the coastal race with a general of all classes, declined the triumph for Fandango, while the second square was for the alicantino Tanit IV Medilevel followed by the local Maverta.

The best fleet of the Region of Murcia and Comunitat Valenciana... half a hundred cruises have been concentrated in Torrevieja from the hand of its Real Club Nautico, face to the Passión Cabo Roig and that it has reached its 55th edition and for 5 years has received the support and encouragement of the Trophy Regata Astoria, this year being the second that it receives as Memorial Fernando Pedrera, one of the drivers in giving name to the race... comes to enrich the level of the same one that is suitable for the Autonomical.

Three planned tests (a coastal in the morning and 2 barlovento-sotavento in the afternoon) to the most competitive units of the area, among them the current world champion ORC 3 Corinthian (non-professional) in Croatia, the alicantino Tanit IV Medilevel and that achieved the sixth place in the King's Cup. Next to the alicantino will be other units that come from participating in the palmesan race in the same class, such as the cartagJanuary Nemox, seventh or the bright fourth place of the local Maverta that at home I return to the fleet ORC 2.

But they will not be the only ones who will act as protagonists, but there are other units that have many options to be on the podium tomorrow night at the great party of Astoria, case of the Mylady Bats of the CN Villa of San Pedro, Fandango 300 of the CN Portman or Hakuna S of the RCR Cartagena.

They are joined to that quinquielas to be on one of the podiums the premises Ozu Dos, Trabuco, Greek, all of them from the Torrevieja RCN, or Black Octopus and Sogai from the International Marine CN of Torrevieja or the See You of the CN Guararararar, in addition to the Finnish Sopu Dos that sails through the host club or the Dutch Lestes Dos that does so by the nearby club.

The fifth edition of the Astorian Regatta - Cape Roig Trip (which was created 55 years ago), organized by the Royal Nautical Club of Torrevieja, already works intensively to ensure that on August 15 it reoffers its best image to the cruise ships ORC of the Region of Murcia and Comunitat Valenciana that are to meet. A test that is valid for the Community ships in their Autonomical Cup.

A race that has already been consolidated in the calendar, being forced to quote for many of the ships that want to compete in two formats: A more amateur one, with a coastal race and that gives way to the Trophy Cabo Roig, emblematic race of the Club for more than 50 years. The other one, which gives the Astoria Cup in its fourth edition, is presented with more technique, although it has the entire fleet, in which are planned two barlovento-sotavento tests.

The first test, with that coastal route, will have as top departure at 11.30 a.m. If the wind conditions are favourable it is very likely that the fleet of by finished that first delivery over 14-15 hours. In the afternoon, at about 4 p.m., the committee has established a warning signal for the planned barlovent- sotavent races.

As for the level of participation they will be the best, some of them comes directly from the Copa del Rey de Palma, case of the local Maverta after a great performance in the fleet ORC 3 in it achieved the fourth square. In this same class took part the Nemox bat, also with a good result, ninth. But it will not be the only ones and in the absence of the closure of the inscriptions the best units of the clubs of Alicante, Portmán, Cartagena, Campoamor, Mazarrón, Villa de San Pedro are expected to enter others.
