The Roark, by Jerome Baronnet, is the absolute winner of the twenty-fourth edition of the El Gaitero Regata. Again, Arcachon's was the best in Gijon's barlovento-sotavento, attesting to its superiority throughout the Regata. By class, the Roark was imposed in group I, the Tchin Tchin, by José Luis Ribed was the best in the II, while the Dare Dare, by Christophe Bru was imposed in class III.
The second place in today's class I day was for, Javier Larrañaga on board the Urbegi, who would end up in this same position in the general of this group. La Despeinada, by Carlos Maidagan would end up third in the manga and class.
The Tchin Tchin, by José Luis Ribed, was imposed on the test and the class II general, that of the Royal Abra Maritime Club - Real Sporting Club would end second in the absolute general, once again proving to be one of the most pointed patterns of the Gaitero. The Aizen, by Gustavo Arce, from the Maritime of Santander got the second square of the day and the absolute general.
The Andarax Bi, of Josu Portularrume of Zumaia was third in the manga of Gijón. For its part, the Falcon, by Philippe Roy, had to settle for the third position in the group II general.
Another French, from the Arcachon Sailing Club, the Dare Dare, patronized by Christophe Bru, was in class III, winning the last race and ending in a more than meritorious third position in the absolute general.
The Airan V, by Mario Ruiz de Villa was second in the day and third in the class general... the Vincitur, by Ricardo Reguilon would be third in the test.. The second place in the general was occupied by the Lasai, by Gonzalo Arnal.

Cancelled the third race of the Gaitero due to the lack of wind in Gijón Bay. After two and a half hours of waiting in the water and the low wind intensity to start the exit procedure, the Regatas Committee decided to cancel the test.

The Roark, by Jerome Baronnet, is imposed in the 90-mile long race of La Gaitero, between Santander and Gijón, and is committed to its leadership in the absolute general.
At 6 and 14 minutes this morning, the Roark crossed the line of arrival at the entrance to the marina of Gijón, after 16 hours and 15 minutes of navigation, on an excellent journey through the waters of the Cantabrian Sea.
The 90 miles of crossing between the Cantabrian capital and Gijón were fought with the Eastern wind, constant of between 6 and 8 knots, which was maintained almost throughout the test, the difficulty as has happened on many other occasions is the fall of the wind at dawn which slows the arrival to the port when it is already in sight.
In class I, the Roark has dominated the test from beginning to end and has been imposed clearly, is the leader of the group general and the absolute provisional. The second position was for the Mylla, by Javier Sánchez belonging to the Real Club Marítimo de Santander. The third place would be for the Symphony, by Javier Onaindia of the Royal Abra Maritime Club - Real Sporting Club, second in the class general. The third place in the general is for La Despeinado, by Carlos Maidagan.
The Tchin Tchin, of the Basque José Luis Ribed has been the best in group II and third in the stage, therefore, good Regata for Ribed a veteran in the test. The second position has been for the Falcon, by Philippe Roy who maintains the first position in the class and is second in the absolute. The third square was obtained by the Asian ship Wanted, by Ricardo Simal of the Real Club Astur de Regatas.
The Lasai, by Gonzalo Arnal of Group 3, has been another of the protagonists of the long stage, ending in second position in the general of the stage, first of its class, leads Group III. The second position was obtained by the Dare Dare, of Christophe Bru's second, in the group general, tied to points with the first. For its part the Airan V, by Mari Ruiz was third and occupies the same position in group 3.
Tomorrow at one in the afternoon the competition is resumed, this time in Gijón, under a 15-mile-long barlovento tour located in front of the beach of San Lorenzo, with arrival at the Club de Regatas... in the afternoon will take place in the facilities of the group El Gaitero in Villaviciosa, the award of the stage between Santander and Gijón and of the day, then the sponsor will offer a typical Asian spicha to the participants.

After yesterday's spectacular day, in the first stage between Getxo and Santander, one of the fast in history that is remembered of the Gaitero, today things have made a radical change in terms of meteorology.
At 14: 20 hours in the Bay of Santanderina, from the bridge of command of the Royal Maritime Club of Santander, the canyon of exit to the stage of the queen of the Gaitero was given, with a loose wind from the Northwest on a gray day and plomizo sky.
Once the ships have been released, it has been very difficult to navigate the bay, the loose and very unstable wind has slowed down the fleet, a large part of it, and it was practically overrun at the height of the Faro de la Cerda, and they were seen and desired to overcome the huge well without wind.
However, the ships that sailed further away from the land were the first to set a course for Gijón, the first to do so was the bullbox of Luis Noguera, with Sebastiano Napoli in the cane, or the case of the French, Roark, of Jerome Baronnet, the provisional leader of the Regata.

The Roark, by Jerome Baronnet of the Arcachon Sailing Club, the first leader of the twenty-fourth edition of the El Gaitero Regata... the French first in Santander took just over 4 hours and 10 minutes to cross the line of arrival.
At 1305 hours the first stage began in the vicinity of the Abra de Bilbao... after sailing a mile to turn the dismantling beacon, the fleet was on its way to Santander, the end of the first stage.
In class 1, the Roark of Jerome Baronnet, which premiered in the Regata, was the fastest in the journey and leads the general classification of his group, and in the absolute general. The second square was obtained by the Basque of La Despeinada, by Carlos Maidagan. For its part, the Urbegi of Javier Larrañaga would end in third position.
Another French El Falcon, by Philippe Roy, was also the fastest in class 2 and is second in the joint general. The second square is occupied by the Santanderino Aizen, by Gustavo Arce, one of the favorite boats to win the race. The third position was for the Kenex V, by Ignacio Jimenez of the Nautico de Laredo.
Finally, in group 3, the Dare Dare of Christophe Bru also of Arcachon was the best of its kind, followed by the Lasai, by Gonzalo Arnal of the Club vizcayno Orza, followed by the Airan V, Mario Ruiz of the Maritime of Santander.
Tomorrow at 12.00 p.m. the first stage awards will be held between Getxo and Santander, in the Royal Maritime Club of Santander. Then, at 1405 hours, the departure of the regatta's queen stage in the Bay of Santanderina, which will set a course for Gijón, 90 miles ahead and where night navigation will no doubt mark the arrival of the Asturian port.
