24 / 07 / 2019: Laredo seat of the Regata Transgascogne 6.50... in which 73 ships from 11 countries participate

Cuarenta años después Les Sables de Olonne y Laredo se unen sus destinos, desde aquella legendaria Regata Le Fígaro en 1979

Forty years later, Les Sables de Olonne and Laredo joined their destinations, from that legendary Regata Le Figaro in 1979.

The port of Laredo will host for the first time in August the Transgascogne 6.50, a biennial race of about 600 miles of journey that in 2019 will be developed between Les Sables d'Olonne and Laredo and in which will participate 73 "6.50" model ships, to which accompany six ships of great length... with a movement in regatta of two hundred regatists and technicians.

The Organization has the collaboration of the City Council of Laredo, Public Works Council of the Government of Cantabria, Federacion Cantabra de Vela and the Royal Nautical Club of Laredo

The name of the race is due to its tour, but also to the class of ships 6.50 that participate and whose arrival in the host city represents "a nautical, sports and playful show," as the mayor of Laredo, Charo Losa and the Counsellor of Public Works, Jose Luis Gocichoa la Transgascogne 6.50, have emphasized, is a "authentic" event and an instrument of promotion for the port that welcomes the scale in each edition, in this case, Laredo. "This race will attract the focus of attention on Laredo and Cantabria and will allow us to make the region known as a tourist nautical destination," they said.

This is the first time that the Laredo villa will act as a host of the scale. In previous editions, the Transgascogne 6.50 has visited the ports of La Coruña, Gijón, Santander, Ribadeo, Luanco and Avilés.
The race brings to the host city "an important vistosity and animation," as well as economically energizing the area, since the about 200 people who move in the test will be able to discover, from 1 to 5 August, the tourist attractions of Laredo and Cantabria.

The Transgascogne 6.50 in its tenth edition will be held from July 24 to August 9... the exit to Laredo from Savles d'Olonne will be on the 30th, with a total of 345 miles, the village in Laredo will be open to the public from August 1 to 5... leaving the fleet from the city of Cantabra on the same day 5.
