The Organizing Committee of the Sea of Maeloc in tune with the Royal Nautical Club of La Coruña, has made the decision to postpone the celebration of the Finisterre Trophy for the 2 and 3 of August, so that the ships of the north of Galicia, as well as those of the Cantabric, who are interested in participating in the races of the southern Galician, and in particular the Regata Rías Baixas... can do so with comfort and without haste. The departure will take place at 5: 00 p.m. on Friday, August 2, to the Monte Real Club de Yates de Baiona.

The decision to link with the Count of Gondomar Trophy organized by the Yates Club was made last May in the interest of the fleet, which in a sufficient number (over 10 ships) had requested their participation in the race of the longest of those held in Galician waters, this season: 120 miles.

But several factors changed the initial position last night, in the face of weather predictions that spoke of force winds 1 for the day of Friday and Saturday, days on which the celebration of the Finisterre was planned. Under this circumstances the planned participants put pressure on the Organization, making it known that its opinion was better a change, rather than a sports disaster, in the sense that the fleet "floated" rather than sailing.

For this reason and with technical data in hand, it has been chosen for the most reasonable, being very well received this decision defended by the comandoro of the Náutico de La Coruña, Jorge Etcheverría... the feeling of all the being able to underline with a total success this entry again in the calendar of the Galician heavy candle of the historic Trophy Finisterre that was instituted in 1964 by Antonio Pastor Meden, with the support of Jesus Valverde Viñas and the then mayor of Vela Gallega, the unforgettable José Ramón Fontán González.
