The Majorcan regatists María Perelló of the Náutico s'Arenal Club, has been proclaimed for the third consecutive year as the world champion of the Optimist class in the female category. This has been the last world in this class for Perelló, who has set an unprecedented record by getting this third crown in the female category.
The victory of Perelló has been accompanied by the absolute bronze of Jaime Ayarza of the Royal Gran Canaria Nautical Club... and the recognition of Spain as the best nation of the world, which has gathered 255 promises of the sailing of the entire planet.
Maria Perelló has had to fight until the last moment because on the penultimate day of competition she was punished with a disqualified and began the last day with an off-line that would keep her from winning... finally, Perelló has ended up in the twenty-fifth place of the general ranking and has been the best female regatist of the competition, which has earned her its third consecutive world title.
Jaime Ayarza ended up among the top 10 in nine of the twelve sleeves played along the championship... the absolute victory has been for the Italian Marco Gradoni, who has also won his third title as champion of the consecutive world.
He also highlighted the performance of Javier Ojeda del Gran Canaria, who has finished the competition at the 12th place of the general classification... and David Santaccreu of the Royal Nautical Club of Tenerife, who has been ranked at the 36 place... Pol Núñez also from Las Palmas stayed at 97.
