The outstanding Galician regatist Gonzalo Araújo is engaged in a new ocean adventure, the Transpacific Yacht Race, with 2,300 miles of tour, just over 4,200 km., from San Francisco to Hawaii.

On board the Vitese, a Transpac 52 with an American flag armed by Tom Furlong, the Vigo will perform the work of patron and head of guard, having next to it one of the legends of the sea as is the Dutch Marcel Van Triest, one of the regatists that has made the most of the world, reap its last success with the Dongfeng, winner of the last edition of the Volvo Ocean Race.

Araujo and Van Triest form an important tandem in the Vitesse. Caña and Navigante face a major challenge in one of the most important Pacific dates, regatta that has been fighting since 1.906 and that this year has a participation that is around 100 ships.

The race leaves San Francisco, California, and quickly ships enter the Trade Winds or Pacific wind, to head south and sail aft to Honolulu. The arrival of the archipelago is an important point in managing the islands in the final approach.

The first exits began on Wednesday, July 10, with two more being completed on Friday 12 and the third on Saturday 13, the latter in which the Vitesse de Araújo competes, chosen in this way due to the range of each vessel.
