The wind played a bad way to the thirty-year-old sailing boat participating in the Atlantic "cruise" race Pornic-Baiona- La Rochelle and forced the first stage to be suspended that was scheduled to end on Monday in Baiona with the award of the winners.

The only 3 knots that were recorded during the last day prevented the fleet from sailing and the crews had to turn on the engine to reach Mount Real Club de Yates, co-organizer of the test and point end of the first stage of 455 nautical miles between Pornic and Baiona. However, given the festive and cruise character of the event, the organizers were studying in the last minute of yesterday the formula of cutting the journey when the wind came down, in order to justify in this way the award of prizes... the most important thing to navigation and friendship.

The Cruise Pornico-Baiona-La Rochelle was born of the former Pornico-Baiona-Pornic, launched on a three-year basis in 1997 after the twinning of both towns, which share many similarities with regard to their fishing, tourism and nautical sports activities. After 11 years in 2016, the race changed its format and in 2019 became the Pornic- Baiona- La Rochelle. The cruise is organized by the City of Pornic with the collaboration of the municipalities of Baiona and La Rochelle, and the participation of the Monte Real Club de Yates, the Nautico Club do Pornic and the Association of Regatists of La Rochelle. The Pornic and La Rochelle marinas also work together.
