The Spanish Quim Fontané has today proclaimed himself the world's free-style subchampion in Kayak Surface's specialty by getting second place in the competition that has ended tonight in the Leridan town of Sort.

The Catalan member of the Club Piragüismo Salt-Ter has achieved 1,260 points in the final in which it was surpassed by the American Dane Jackson, who obtained 1,406.67.

The French Devred has completed the podium as the winner of the bronze medal with 1,211.67 points. Jackson recovers the crown of world champion that he lost two years ago when the Spanish took him from his first position by beating him in the previous Free Style World Championship, held in San Juan (Argentina).
