Spain dominated the Youth European Championship of Laser Radial, which was held from Monday 1 to Saturday 6 July in Athens, Greece, with the victory in female category of the Andalusian Ana Moncada and the male absolute subchampionship and victory in Sub 17 of the Majorcan Jordi Lladó.

The Andalusian Ana Moncada is the new youth European champion of the female Laser Radio after winning the championship that was held this week in Athens, Greece. The last day, held today Saturday, July 6, served the Andalusian sportsman to give one last blow after having gone on the podium at the end of the penultimate day of competition.

Along with Moncada, two other Spanish regatists managed to compete in the gold group of the Women's Radio. Isabel Hernández (RCN Gran Canaria) ended up at 39 and his club partner Margarita Iess in 51 of the final classification.

In addition, RCN regatist Palma Jordi Lladó today proclaimed himself the European male Laser Radio champion in category Sub 17 and was made with the silver medal in absolute category. The Majorcan faced the last day of competition since the eighth general position and being second best Sub 17 and took advantage of the last three sleeves of the competition to get the double podium.

For its part, Catalan Ricard Castellví (CN Cambrils) finished the European youth of Male Radio in the ninth position of the general. Castellví began the last day with strength and recorded a first and a third in the first two sleeves of the day, which made him close to top 5. But in the last test he recorded a 26 that could not be ruled out.

Five other Spanish regatists also competed in the gold group of the Male Radio: Javier Amondarain, CN Hondarribia (32); Manuel Barber, CM Mahón (37); Miquel Sitges, CM San Antonio de la Playa (43); Leonard Collado del RCN Calpe (44) and Arturo Martínez, RCN Puerto de Santa María (46).
