Hurtigruten, a Norwegian shipping company leading in exploration trips, makes history today with the launch of its first ecological ship: the MS Roald Amundsen. This hybrid exploration ship is the first in the world to sail the most spectacular waters on the planet with an innovative technology, proclaiming itself a leader in the cruise sector.

MS Roald Amundsen, named in honor of the Norwegian explorer Roald Amundsen who led the first expedition to cross the Northwest Pass, begins sailing today. This ship uses batteries to support its low-emission engines, which will reduce CO2 emissions through its hybrid propulsion by more than 20% compared to other ships of the same size.

It is characterized by its modern Scandinavian design and by its high-tech Amundsen Science Center, wide observation covers, panoramic sauna, wellness center, three restaurants, bars, Explorer Loungue, the largest LED screen in the sector cruises over 17 meters high, an infinity pool with two jacuzzis and suites with private outdoor hot tub baths.

This innovative ship will take place in this first season expedition routes along the Norwegian coast, Svalbard and Greenland, North and South America and Antarctica, not to mention the North-West Passage, following the wake of the famous expedition by the same-name explorer Roald Amundsen.
