Enero- April 1600 enrollments in Spain increase of more than 8 points compared to 2018

The market for recreational craft continues to grow at a moderately higher rate than it did in the same months of last year. As of April 2019, 1,600 vessels have been registered in Spain, compared with 1,480 in the same period of 2018, which is + 8.11% growth.
Of the total number of vessels registered in these first four months of the year, 385 are intended for nautical charter (rent), which falls in the period under review by -15% in relation to the data achieved in the first four months of last year.
In terms of length, the segment up to 6 meters enrol 1,062 vessels compared to the 1,012 vessels registered in the same period last year (4.9%); between 6 and 8 meters in length, the enrolments grow by 1.3% (314 enrolments); the segment between 8 and 12 meters is the best result with + 79% (154 enrolments).
The length between 12 and 16 meters, with 57 records, grow by 1.8% and the length over 16 meters are the only one that loses enrolment (-18.8%) in this period.
By type of boat, water motorcycles grow by 7.4%, with 350 enrollments; motor ships grow by 3.6% (739 enrollments) and remain the most demanded ships with a market share of 46.2%; folding pneumatic vessels experience a 35% growth, with 166 enrollments and the sailing has the best result with a growth of almost 40%. Only semi-rigid pneumatic vessels lose registration (-4.4%) between January and April of this year.
The rental market loses registration between January and April 2019 (-15%), following the declining trend of this market which in 2014 experienced a boom with a growth of 60%. Of the 385 vessels registered for rental use, the segment between 8 and 12 meters is the one that has the best result with a growth of 9.3%, the rest of the length is lost in this period. By type of boat, folding pneumatic reach the best data with a growth of 28.6%.
Balearic Islands is the autonomous community with the highest representation of the nautical market (19.63%) and a 15.44% growth in its enrolment. It follows Andalusia, which grows in enrolments by 19.14% and reaches 19.07% market share. Catalonia, with a market share of 17.25%, loses a -9.21% enrolment.
The rental market is also led by the Balearic Islands, which represent 25.71% of this market, followed by Catalonia (24.15%) and the Valencia Community (21.64%).
