The AECIO is the Spanish Association of the International Class Optimist in addition to having the name of General of the Roman Empire, it is dedicated to the promotion of the class optimist, "the ship in the form of a soap drawer" as it was baptized in the World of Sports Miguel Angel Roselló, back in the distant year of 1982. Well, that's what they sell us, but what's clear is that it's also a quarry of leaders and lately home-presidents, or at least they want to be.

Antaño the snipe was the cradle of the presidentables: cases such as Arturo Delgado de Almeida or Cholo Marina, the first who arrived and the second who lost in Madrid and had to be content with Galicia,..., show that we continue on another level,... because we have passed from splendid sportsmen to hall regatists, or in any case that they are parents of regatists or professionals,..., or strange characters such as those who are ravaging the Federation and have been the object of numerous voices that demand their resignation.

On the positive side are the three presidents of this twenty-first century of the Nautical Crisis of the AECIO: their "founding president" Rafael Munilla (heavy sailing regatist), Paco Coro (father of regatist) and Carlos Torrado (professional). The first one was presented, lost and is the President of the Vasca, the second the same and already insistently sounds like futurable and the third one does not hide his aptitude for the office in Madrid, and has said so on many occasions.

Of course they are regatists or not, what is clear is that they are honest, capable, entrepreneurs, they love the nautical,... which is not little. I hope that the digirent quarry of the optimist will succeed, whatever it may be, and we can appeal to people who have as much of the sailing men as Nacho Vidal of Cartjano monk.
