The Mestral Marine Works shipyard has delivered a new unit of its MMW 33 in Lorient, France. This is the new MMW 33 Fast Cruiser version designed by Michele Molino, which has been optimized to take advantage of its fast boat virtues and glider for family cruise programs, which can also compete in IRC races. In addition to evolving some technical details, the new version increases considerably at comfort level compared to the first two manufactured units.
For this third unit, named Tiger 5, special attention has been paid to construction to achieve maximum rigidity, resistance and durability. This MMW 33 incorporates new more efficient appendices, highlighting the double rudder system with cane. The interiors have three double cabins, which is rare for ships of this length and the whole increases a little the final weight of their predecessors, but is compensated with more volical surface. The optimized Tiger 5 for maximum performance in regatas carries a carbon Axxon mast and botavara, Harken and Karver acasillage, and Incidence candles in DFI Fit.
He will debut in the next Spi-Ouest, considered the most important spring race in Europe, which will take place in La Trinité sur Mer from 18 to 22 April. The crew of the "Tiger 5" will have the reed the winner of the Spi-Ouest 2016 Marc Menesgen. Among others you will be accompanied by Aymeric Chappellier (2nd Transat Jacques Vabre 2017 and 2nd Route du Rhum 2018 in its Class 40 AINA), Lulien Gressey and Nicolas Pauchet of the Incidence Watery.
Just after the construction of the IRC Tiger 5 Racing, the shipyard started the construction of two new units of this updated version, which combines the high performance of its design with more habitable interiors and its most multipurpose. Both units have been acquired by the company of libel-service ships SailEazy, which since spring will have them available for their subscribers at their bases in Marseille and La Rochelle.
After the delivery of these three units, the first of 2019, the Mestral Marine Works shipyard will produce more units of the MMW 33 model for quick delivery. Thanks to the experience of the shipyard, its modern facilities and its effective manufacturing systems, the production schedule allows it to deliver reasonably quickly and safely, which have aroused the interest of potential participants in the next Transquadra race.
