The Royal Nautical Club of Arrecife was the seat of the General Assembly of the Spanish Association of Nautical Clubs, with the presence of 16 of the 17 clubs that make up it.

The annual accounts for 2018 and the 2019 budgets were approved. He also renewed the Board of Directors for the next 3 years, which continues to chair the Royal Nautical Club of La Coruña, which was represented by Fernando Cobián and Antonio Nores, president and vice president of the Coruñés club.

The Association met with the idea of discussing the different issues of common interest to all of them, including the approach of clubs to society, encouraging and seeking solutions to bring sea sports to the smallest, with awareness-raising and environmental education programmes.

The social work that is done from the nautical clubs, enhancing the base sport, the sport at any age, the elite and the adapted one, which the clubs do in a selfless way, was analyzed.

Special mention was made of the recently deceased former presidents, Juan Marrero Portugués of the Real Nautico Club of Gran Canaria and Manuel Casanovas Safont of the Real Nautico Club of Valencia, for their great contribution for years to their respective clubs and to the sailing sport. Finally, the AECN Trophy dedicated to light sailing will be held this year in Tenerife and the 2020 edition in Valencia.

The AECN was established on 3 October 1998, for the main purpose and purpose of the defence and interests of the Nautical Clubs, to promote sports, cultural and recreational activities, in particular sailing and other nautical sports, is a private non-profit association, and the scope of action covers the territory of the State, without prejudice to being able to organize or participate in activities of an international nature.
