The Andalusian regatist Blanca Manchón stands as the top candidate to represent Spain at the Tokyo 2020 Games

White Manchón and Ivan Pastor, nays in their respective categories, were the most prominent Spanish athletes of the RS: X European Championship, proof that has been held this week in the Bay of Palma of Mallorca under the organization of the Arenal Nautical Club and that has had a participation of more than 300 windsurfers from all over the world.

The Andalusian White Manchón took advantage of the last manga of the RS: X European Championship to improve positions and ended up in the 19th place of the general and was the ninth best European athletes in absolute female category.

This test was of great importance to the Spanish windsurfers as it served to choose the national representative at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games. After winning the country square in the world of Aarhus last summer, the Olympic preparation committee of the RFEV designated Andalusian Olympic Week (held last March) and the 2019 European Championship (which ended today in Mallorca) as screening and observation tests for the Olympic event next summer.

In the male category, the Alicantino Ivan Pastor was the only Spanish to fight a medal race in the RS: X European Championship and did so ending in the fifth position of this final race, which was worth confirming the ninth position in the general classification. The second best Spanish in this category was the Canary Angel Granda, who finished the competition in the fifteenth general position.

As for the youth classes, the Majorcan Andrea Torres (CN Arenal) was the most outstanding Spanish: it was made with the nineteenth position of its class and was the third best regatist Sub 17 of the championship. For its part, Naiara Fernández (CNA) ended in sixth position Sub 17 with his sister Zoe Fernández (CNA) in eighth place and Emma Vanrell (CM San Antonio de la Playa) in ninth place.

The best Spanish windsurfer in the male youth category was the Biel Lladó (RCN Palma), who completed the championship in the twenty-second position of the absolute general. In the Sub 17 classification, Josep Estrany (CNA) and Xicu Ferrer (CNA), seventh and eighth respectively, were highlighted.

With a total of ten sleeves completed, the Alicantino windsurfer sealed his pass to the final race, reserved for the top ten classified, although he did so without options to reach the podium. For its part, the Canary Ángel Granda took advantage of the penultimate day of the competition to improve positions and ascended to position 16 of the general.

In RS: X female, Blanca Manchón completed the fourth day of the competition in the thirteenth position of the general classification and is the tenth best European sportsman. These figures leave Manchón out of the medal race of his class but tomorrow he will fight a last manga, sailing with the rest of the gold group fleet, with which he could improve his position in the continental classification. In this magna he will compete with his companion Pilar Lamadrid who today stood in the twenty-fifth square of the absolute female general.

In the male youth classification the best Spanish was Biel Lladó (Real Club Náutico de Palma), vigesimosegundo. Blanca Manchón and Ivan Pastor continue to lead the Spanish representation that is competing in the RS: X European Championship that is being held in Mallorca under the organization of the Arenal Nautical Club. Today's day was the third of the continental title competition and tomorrow Friday the last qualifying sleeves will be held to get the pass to the medal race this Saturday, final sleeve for the ten best windsurfers in each category.

The Alicantino Ivan Pastor continued with his upward trajectory and made the leap to the seventh position of the absolute and European general. With only two tests, of three planned, completed, the Spanish windsurfer recorded a partial of 11 and 4 to add 43 net points, which puts him seven points from the bronze medal. In the absolute category of women, Blanca Manchón is now up to the eighth position of the European classification. The Andalusian windsurfer had a complicated day start with a 29, which becomes its discard, but saved the rest of the day with a 10 + 14 partial.

The second day of the RS: X European Championship that is being held at the Arenal Nautical Club, Mallorca, was held with an unstable wind from the West that did not allow the program to be completed. The youth regatists, the first to go to the water, sailed three sleeves while in absolute male and female category only two tests were performed.

Ivan Pastor exceeded the day with a 2 + 15, partial results that placed him in the tenth position of the European classification with 28 net points, only nine of the podium posts. Less successful were the rest of the national regatists in this category in which the next Spanish in the classification is the canary Ángel Granda, vigesimosext.

Today, only two sleeves were completed by the women's boards, and the White Manchón was used to go up to the tenth European position. Machon began the day by winning the first race and was sixth in the second race. Pilar Lamadrid, with results of 7 + 14, improved his position and is already eighteenth.

The young male and female fleets, the first to go out to sea, were able to complete the three sleeves planned for each day and several Spanish regatists remain in the most prominent positions of their classifications.

With regard to the female Sub-17 classification, the Majorcan Andrea Torres (CNA) has the fourth square, while its club partners Naiara and Zoe Fernández are sixth and seventh respectively. Finally, Emma Vanrell (CM San Antonio de la Playa) is in ninth position.

Tomorrow the third day of the RS: X European Championship will be held by the Arenal Nautical Club, Mallorca... the competition, which I set off on Tuesday, will end on Saturday, the day that the new continental Olympic windsurfing champions will be met.

The championship committee plans to hold four qualifying days before the medal race that is scheduled for Saturday 13, with a total of 12 sleeves possible, at the rate of three a day, before determining the regatists who will fight for the continental title.
