The market for recreational craft grows more than 14 points in the first quarter 2019

The market for recreational craft reaches an increase of 14.3% in the enrolments registered in the first quarter of 2019, compared with the same period last year. As of March, 975 vessels have been registered compared to 853 in the same period in 2018. Of the total number of ships registered in these first three months, 790 are intended for private use (81%) and 185 are intended for nautical charter (rent), which falls by -15% with respect to the first quarter of 2018.
For the length of the ships between 8 and 12 meters, the best performance with a growth of the enrolments of 125,5% (106 units compared to 47 of last year), the segment up to 6 meters enrol 629 ships compared to the 578 registered in the same period last year (+ 8.8%); between 6 and 8 meters in length, the enrolments grow by 4.5%, between 12 and 16 meters by 19.4%. The length over 16 meters falls by -21.4% in this period.
By type of vessels, the folding pneumatic vessels experience the highest growth (40.5%), with 118 enrollments compared to 84 in the first quarter of 2018. Motor ships, which account for 48.9% of the nautical market, have 477 registrations (+ 12.8%). The registration of water motorcycles is growing by 11.3% in this period and the sail returns to the positive figures, with a growth in the enrolments of
Sailboats of 28.1%. Only semi-rigid tyres fall (-0.8%) but do so to a lesser extent than in the first quarter of 2018.
The rental market falls in the first half of the year by -15.14%, although the registration of ships for use of rent goes back to the month of January in which more than 50% fell.
The length of which has grown most for charter in the first quarter of this year has been the segment between 8 and 12 meters (+ 22.7%), the most demands being small boats, up to 6 meters, which represent 62.7% of the charter market.
By type of boat, the motor ships are the most required for charter (40.5%) although they fall by -7.4% in enrollments between January and March of this year.
Andalusia with the highest market share (21.14%) and an increase in its enrolment of 35.5% is at the head of the market for recreational craft for the period enero-March 2019. It follows the Balearic Islands with a market share of 18.56% and a 35% growth in enrolment. Catalonia has a third position with 17.2% of the market and a growth of 3.7% of its enrolments.
The charter market in this period is leading Catalonia which represents 29.19%, followed by the Balearic Islands (27%) and the Valencia Community (20.53%).
