Tras seis días de competición el equipo español consigue dos medallas en la edición del 50º aniversario de la regata mallorquina, que ha contado con una participación récord de 849 embarcaciones y 1.200 regatistas de 67 países

After six days of competition the Spanish team won two medals in the edition of the 50th anniversary of the Majorcan race, which has had a record participation of 849 boats and 1,200 regatists from 67 countries

The 50 Princess Sofia Iberostar Trophy today fired from the Bay of Palma with spectacular wind conditions, with rachas above 20 knots and waves of more than a metre and a half. The ten best crews of most classes were faced by medals in an inhospitable regatta field but the favorites did not get bitten and the podiums underwent very few changes. The Spanish pre-Olympic sailing team harvested from the week of competition in Mallorca two silver medals, while the great winners of the Sofia Iberostar were the British regatists, with eight metals in total.

The 470 male Medal Race was the most interesting for the local public, with the Spanish Jordi Xammar and Nicolás Rodríguez leaving from the fourth position and the subchampionship as the only goal. "The waiting on the ground has become long but we have not lost concentration, we have gone out for all and we have managed to win the silver," Xammar said after competing.

The other medal for Spain was obtained by Diego Botín and Iago Ópez- Marra in the 49er class, which today was unable to compete. The extreme wind and wave conditions, which put most of the fleet in trouble, caused the 49er, as well as the 49er FX and Nacra 17, to have no options to navigate.

In 470 female Spanish Silvia Mas and Patricia Cantero took advantage of the last manga of their class to show that they remain one of the rivals to beat in competition. They were left second in the race medal and finished the Sofia Iberostar in seventh position. The victory was for the British Hanna Mills and Eilidh Mcityre.

On the male tables, the Andalusian Fernando Lamadrid was the only national representative in the final test of his class and crossed the finish line in fifth position. However, Lamadrid fired the Sofia Iberostar in eighth position. The winner of the race medal and the Sofia Iberostar in RS: X male was the Hongkonese Michael Cheng. The Mateo Sanz, which competes for Switzerland, decided not to sail in today's race, in conservative mode for the European next week. For not competing in the Medal Race, Sanz, who had won the bronze in a mathematical way yesterday, was penalized and relegated to the tenth square.

The Nacra 17 class, in which the Spaniards Tara Pacheco and Florian Trittel had obtained the pass to the Medal Race, remained on the ground due to the strong wind and waves that were recorded in the Bay of Palma this morning. In this way, Pacheco and Trittel took the tenth place and were the best national crew, which gave them the title of Spanish champions of Nacra 17. At the top of the general were the Australians Jason Waterhouse and Lisa Darmanin.

Chinese windsurfer Yue Tan demonstrated a great domain of the RS: Women's X over the six days of competition and rose today with the title of absolute winner of the 50 Princess Sofia Iberostar Trophy. The leading champion recorded five first in eleven tests and never added a two-figure result. In the women's tables, the best Spanish competitor was Pilar Lamadird, who today did not contest the medal race after having finished Friday in the first tenth position.

In Laser Standard the American Christopher Bernard got the gold with a only two-point advantage over the British Elliot Hanson, second. The third position was for English Nick Thompson.

The Danish Anne- Marie Rindom took advantage of her rent, was third in the medal race and was awarded the victory in the general of Laser Radial. For her part, the Dutch Marit Bouwmeester took advantage of the second position and relegated the third podium drawer to the American Erika Reineke.

In the Finn class the first position of the general was awarded by New Zealand Andrew Malone, with English Giles Scott in the second square and also New Zealand Josh Junior closing the honor painting.

Finally, the 49er FX class did not compete today and the absolute podium remained intact with the Brazilian Martine Grael and Kahena Kunze at the top. New Zealand Alexandra Maloney and Molly Meech were made with silver and bronze was for British Charlotte Dobson and Saskia Tidey.

05 / 04 / 2019: Botín-Marra and Xammar-Rodriguez get into the "ointment" of Princess Sofia

La regata mallorquina de clases olímpicas vivirá mañana su última jornada con la celebración de la medal race de cada categoría, regata final reservada a los diez mejores clasificados y de puntuación doble

The Majorcan race of Olympic classes will live tomorrow its last day with the celebration of the medal race of each category, final race reserved for the top ten classified and double score

In 470 female, Silvia Mas and Patricia Cantero secured the pass to the last manga of the competition. After today's two sleeves the Catalan Canadian couple remained in seventh position, without the possibility of fighting for the medals. The provisional podium is led by the British Hanna Mills and Eilidh Mcyntire, followed by the French Lecointre and Returnaz, second, and the Slovenes Mrak and Carol, third.

The 50 Princess Sofia Iberostar Trophy is heading for the final day of a historic edition, with a record participation of 849 boats and 1,200 regatists, representing 67 countries. The Bay of Palma did not fail and, although the wind took an hour to make an act of presence and showed itself a roll, the regatta committees of Club Nàutic S'Arenal, Club Marítimo San Antonio de la Playa and Real Club Náutico de Palma met the program planned. With three gold medals already decided after this penultimate day, tomorrow's Saturday-morning medals will serve to make the final podiums of the race after six days of competition and will also decide the absolute winner of one of the best Olympic sailing races in the world.

Diego Botín and Iago López Marra took the last hit on the table before facing the 49th race medal as seconds classified. The mathematical victory is for the British Dylan Fletcher and Stuart Bithell, so the Spaniards will have to defend the silver against the Argentines Yago and Klaus Lange, third at six points.

The Cantabrian pattern described the day as very complicated: "We had never sailed with this kind of wind in Mallorca. It has been very roll and it has forced us to be very close to everything." Tomorrow, in the medal race, the Spanish knows that there are many ships that could take their place but it is optimistic. "It will be a day with a lot of wind and difficult conditions but it will be fun. We'll get up to speed, see what comes out," he said.

With the Swedish Anton Dahlberg and Frederik Bergstrom as virtual winners of the male class 470, the fight for silver and bronze will focus all attention on the final manga of tomorrow, double score. Today, the Spanish Jordi Xammar and Nicolás Rodríguez climbed two posts on the table and stood in the fourth position, only four points from the silver. Its goal tomorrow is to overcome the British Patience and Grube, which are second, and the Chinese Zangjun and Chao, placed in the third drawer of the provisional podium.

Xammar was happy to get to the ground and took stock of the week: "We started well, then we had two complicated days in which we drew many conclusions and today we went out to navigate with what we learned and it worked for us." For the final race, the Catalan pattern is clear that they will go out "to bite, to all," and announced a "fun, scrawny, reace medal."

In 470 female, Silvia Mas and Patricia Cantero secured the pass to the last manga of the competition. After today's two sleeves the Catalan Canadian couple gave up a post in the provisional general and placed eighth, without the possibility of fighting for the medals. The provisional podium is led by the British Hanna Mills and Eilidh Mcyntire, followed by the French Lecointre and Returnaz, second, and the Slovenes Mrak and Carol, third.

The Mateo Sanz, which competes for Switzerland, continues on the provisional podium of the class RS: Male X. Sanz is now third and tomorrow he will be able to choose the silver, which for the moment is for the Chinese Hao Chen. The gold, out of the reach of Sanz, will be decided between Chen and Hongkonese Michael Chang, the provisional leader. For its part, the Andalusian Fernando Lamadrid, without podium options, closed the day in eighth position and will compete in the final race.

Tara Pacheco and Florian Trittel managed to enter the race medal of Nacra 17, classified in the tenth position of the provisional general and tied with the first ten. The Spaniards will fight the final tomorrow in the hope of being able to scratch some posts in a fleet in which they have competed up to 59 catamarans. The provisional lead is for the Australians Jason Waterhouse and Lisa Darmanin, with the Italians Bisaro and Frascari in second position and the British Gimson and Burnet in third provisional square.

The Chinese Yue Tan today achieved virtual victory on the women's boards and stands as the main candidate for absolute winner of the 50 Princess Sofia Iberostar Trophy. In the second provisional position of the class is the Hongkoness Hei man Chan while the third square is for the Danish Laerke Bull-Hansen. The Spanish Pilar Lamadrid tightened to the maximum in the last day and ended at the tenth first, right at the door of getting the pass to the final race tomorrow.

The first position of the 49th FX remains in the hands of the Brazilian Martine Grael and Kahena kunze, although tomorrow they will have to certify their victory with a good performance in the medal race. Their pursuers, separated between them by only one point, are the New Zealand Maloney and Meech, second, and the British Dobson and Tidey, third. The Spanish Patricia Suárez and Nicole van der Velden ended their participation in the Sofia Iberostar in the tenth of their class.

The American Chris Barnard has enough income in the Laser class for tomorrow to get the victory if he doesn't hit the medal race. The British Elliot Hanson also seems to have a point mattress that gives him peace of mind to end up in second position while his compatriot Nick Thompson must fight not to lose the advantage of a point that accumulates on the third and two points on the fourth and fifth classified. The Canaries Joel Rodríguez, the tenth, and Joaquín Blanco, the sixth, today fired from the Sofia Iberostar by not getting the pass to the medal race, reserved for the top 10 of its class.

In the Finn class, New Zealand Andrew Maloney continues as a favorite to win, with a six-point rent now on British Giles Scott. Third position is the kiwi Josh Junior. The Spanish representation fired from the Majorcan regatta of Olympic classes with Catalan Alex Muscat (24) and Menorcan Joan Cardona (25) as best classified.

At Laser Radio Anne-Marie Rindon is obliged to improve his results if he wants to maintain the first position of his class. The Danish one began with brilliant results, first four in a row, but its performance has gone to less in the following days. The American Erika Reineke needs to cut five points to take away the victory while defending a single-point income against the Finnish Tuula Tennanen. The local regatist Fatima Reyes, twenty-fourth, ends the Sofia Iberostar as the best national sportsman.

04-04-2019 Diego Botín and Iago Ópez- Marra get into the 49er podium of Princess Sofia

El mistral con más de 20 nudos, ofreció un día de regatas rápidas y vistosas con baile de posiciones en los puestos de cabeza

The mistral with more than 20 knots, offered a day of fast and vistous regats with position dance at the head

Diego Botín and Iago Ópez- Marra today completed their particular rebound and went up to the third temporary post of the 49th... the Galician cantabre team started the day with a first place and continued with a seven and a two in the next sleeves of the day... ahead of them are the British Fltcher and Bithell, first, and the Argentines Yago and Klaus Lange, second.

Day of lights and shadows for Jordi Xammar and Nicolás Rodríguez in 470 male. The Catalan dupla began with a 21, the result of a bad decision in the water... in the second manga a first place returned their smile and allowed them to keep the sixth place of the general... in head, and with a hollow advantage, the Swedes Dahlberg and Bergström continue.

Today was not a good day for the Spanish teams of 470 women. While the French Lecointre and Returnaz maintained their particular struggle for gold with the British Mills and Mcintyre, the Spanish crews signed one of their worst day. Silvia Mas and Patricia Cantero, with results of 20 and 17, held up the type and closed the day in sixth position but their companions Barbara Cornudella and Sara López (30 + 27) gave up to position fourteen.

The Olympic tables were the first to return to the ground with two new tests completed. The Canary Angel Granda took advantage of the day to take a few steps forward in the classification and went up to the seventh general position, followed closely by the Andalusian Fernando Lamadrid, eighth. The Mateo Sanz, which competes for Switzerland, was less fortunate and fell to the third square, only seven points from the Hongkonese Michael Cheng, second. The relay in the lead of the RS: Male X is for Hao Chen.

In the female fleet, Peina Chen (China) became the new serial head. For its part, the gaditana Pilar Lamadrid was placed in the 10th position with a 16 on the first sleeve and an off-line on the second.

The Spanish Tara Pacheco and Florian Trittel, a crew of Nacra 17 created at the beginning of the year, demonstrated good control of their boat with strong winds, adding results of 3 + 9 + 4 to achieve the tenth provisional position of their class. Meanwhile, the Australians Waterhouse and Darmanin settled on the top of the table.

The canary Joaquin Blanco suffered but held the wind embiste and unhung only to the tenth position of the Laser Standard. Joel Rodríguez, for his part, saved the day with a third in the second manga to stay in position 16 of the general.

The podium of this class is one of the most expensive of the Sofia Iberostar, with four crews separated by a maximum of eight points. At the moment, the American Christopher Barnard carries the rival sign to beat with the Irish Finn Lynch on his heels.

In 49er FX the Galician crew formed by Patricia Suárez and Nicole van der Velden began the day assuming the DSQ of yesterday's day the result of a protest that resulted against them. Today the Spanish came out for all and won the second manga, which added to some 23 and 10 partials, and took them to the 15 of the general that today dominate the Brazilian Martine Grael and Kahena Kunze.

New Zealand and Britain maintain a viscous pulse for the win in the Finn class. The kiwi Andy Maloney follows one step ahead of the other competitors while the second square is disputed by Giles Scott (GBR) and Josh Junior (NZL), tied two days after the end of the Iberostar Sofia. In terms of national representation, Catalan Alex Muscat is 35 and Menorcan Joan Cardona 36.

Laser Radial's gold group is passing bill to Danish Anne- Marie Rindom. Although no one has been able to put his first position in trouble, Rindom's results have gone to less and have reduced his chances of getting up with the title of absolute winner of the Majorcan Olympic class race, which this year celebrates half a century of life. With regard to the Spanish representatives, the most prominent, the Canaria Martina Reino, is down to 25.

03 / 04 / 2019: Bad day in the Sofia for Xammar-Rodríguez who leave the first squares

The great Majorcan race of Olympic classes has started with the final series. The best classified ones of each class, except those of 49er and tables that had not completed the test quota, have sailed in the gold group in order to get the pass to the medal race that will be held next Saturday

Joaquín Blanco has again been the most prominent Spanish athlete on this third day of the Princess Sofia Iberostar Trophy in which national representatives have suffered to be among the best. The canary has sailed in the Laser class head group in the two sleeves held to finish in fifth and eighth position in each of them, some partial that have allowed it to keep its back. After a bad start, Blanco has recovered and already occupies the fifth place of a general classification in which the Norwegian Hermann Tomasgaard commands.

Jordi Xammar and Nicolás Rodríguez have had a bad day in the 470 Male class. The leaders of the category to date have signed a 20 and a 25 and have fallen to the eighth place in the general ranking. His position of privilege has been occupied by the Swedish Anton Dahlberg and Fredrik Bergström who have two points of advantage over the Austrians David Bargehr and Lukas Mähr, who occupy second place, and five over the British Luke Patience and Chris Grube, who complete the provisional podium.

The 470 Women has not recorded major changes after the two sleeves held today. Silvia Mas and Patricia Cantero have finished in tenth place in both and are located in the sixth place of the general. In the head, you could see a nice fight between Camille Lecointre and Aloise Returnaz and Hannah Mills and Eilidh Mcintyre. French women are first but with only one advantage over British women.

The Finn category remains unchanged even though the leader, Andrew Maloney, has not had a bright day as before. New Zealand has added 3 and 12 to its locker but its rivals have also not highlighted and have not taken advantage of it to cut the distance. His compatriot Josh Junior occupies the second square and Argentine Facu Olezza is third. As far as the local regatists are concerned, Joan Cardona holds on one more day as Finn's best Spanish, although he has fallen to 23 in the classification.

Diego Botín and Iago López Marra maintain their ascending tonic in this Princess Sofia Iberostar Trophy. The 49er class has today conducted three tests in the Bay of Palma in which the Spanish team has obtained a fifth, a second and a tenth place, the latter is its discard. With these results, Botín and López Marra have managed to sneak into the "top ten," they are tenths of a category in which the British Dylan Fletcher and Stuart Bithell have placed themselves at the front.

An early departure of Tara Pacheco and Florian Trittel in the last test of the day has ruined the good work of the Spanish team of the Nacra17 class. The crew, who sailed through the Nàutic El Balis Club, had won the first partial of the day but the subsequent disqualification has thwarted their aspirations to continue improving positions in the general classification and have fallen to post 16. Among the top, the category comes out to new leaders per day of competition. Now it's the Australians Jason Waterhouse and Lisa Darmanin that have been located at the front.

The Swiss Mateo Sanz has again been the best in the RS: X Male class. The regatist out of the quarry of Formentera has taken a five-point rent to Chinese Hao Chen and 17 to honkonese Michael Cheng, who are their ultimate pursuers. Some regatists of this category of tables, including some of the favorites like Sanz himself, have decided not to take the exit in any of the contested tests. The reason is that in a week's time, the RS: X European Championship will be held in the Bay of Palma and athletes do not want to force the machinery in order to avoid injuries that prevent them from fighting for a test that can be fundamental to their aspirations to be in the Tokyo Games next year.

As for the Spaniards, both Ángel Granda and Fernando Lamadrid have had a good day and have improved their classification. The canary occupies the seventh square and the Andaluz follows the eighth.

Asian Domain in the RS class: Women's X. The Chinese Yue Tan rules on the table with 19 points, one less than the Honkanese Hie Man Chan, while the Chinese also Jie Du is third. Although he has suffered a disqualification in the third partial, the Andalusian Pilar Lamadrid has ascended to post 13 of the classification and remains the best national regatist in the category.

Anne-Marie Rindom has broken her streak at Laser Radial by adding a fifth and a seventh place. The Danish, which until today had four wins in a row, retains a strong advantage over the Belgian Emma Plasschaert and the American Erika Reineke, which are second and third, respectively. The Canaria Martina Reino remains the most prominent national sportsman, although today it has not been at the level of the first two days and has fallen to position 17.

Charlotte Dobson and Saskia Tidey have taken their first position at 49erFX. The British have won two of the three tests today and have passed both the Brazilian Martine Grael and Kahena Kunze, who have won another manga, and the New Zealand Alexandra Maloney and Molly Meech, who have punctured and fallen to the third position of the table. Patricia Suárez and Nicole van der Velden (RCN de Vigo) have sailed more consistently and have climbed to the third place. The challenge of the Galician crew is to take advantage of the next two days to try to sneak into the medal race that the ten best teams play.

From tomorrow the competition will face its decisive part with all the categories already divided into gold and silver groups. The Regatta Committee will try to carry out two or three more tests depending on the wind and class.

02 / 04 / 2019: The Canary Laser Joaquín Blanco the best Spanish on the second day of the Sofia in Palma

Jordi Xammar y Nicolás Rodríguez se mantienen al frente de la clasificación de la clase 470 Masculino en una jornada fantástica de competición en la que el viento del suroeste ha permitido completar todo el programa de una forma rápida y fluida

Jordi Xammar and Nicolás Rodríguez remain at the forefront of the classification of the 470 Male class on a fantastic day of competition in which the south-west wind has made it possible to complete the entire program in a fast and smooth way

The second day of the 50th Princess Sofia Iberostar Trophy can be described as perfect. The weather forecast has been met and the sleeves have been carried out one after the other until the entire program planned for today in the Bay of Palma has been completed.

Jordi Xammar and Nicolás Rodríguez remain in charge of the 470 Male class, although it has not been a quiet day for the Spanish pre-Olympic duo. In the first manga, Xammar and Rodríguez have not been able to keep their heads on and have added a 13. Luckily, the Catalan and the Galician have been able to redo in the second partial and have taken the victory. This triumph allows Xammar and Rodríguez to remain in the first place in the class ahead of the Austrian David Bargehr and Lukas Mähr, who are second, and the Japanese Keiju Okada and Jumpei Hokazono, who are third.

Silvia Mas and Patricia Cantero have taken a disappointment in the first test. The Spanish women have been in the lead and have defended their position throughout the race but as they cross the finish line ahead of their rivals they have been informed of their disqualification on the off-line. Despite this setback, Mas and Cantero have replaced the coup in the second trial and have added a fourth since it has allowed them to finish the day in the fifth place of the general of 470 Women. The new leaders of the category are the French Camille Lecointre and Aloise Returnaz, who have relegated the British Hannah Mills and Eilidh Mcintyre to the second position.

The Spanish athlete most prominent in this second day of the Trophy Princess Sofia Iberostar has been the canary Joaquín Blanco who has won a victory and a second place in the races held. The representative of the Royal Nautical Club of Gran Canaria has started to reassemble and has already been in the tenth position of the general of the Laser class. Three places below it is also the canary Joel Rodríguez, while the category is led by Norwegian Hermann Tomasgaard.

One of lime and one of sand for Martina Kingdom today in Laser Radial. In the first test it has been located in the head group and it has ended in the fourth square, but in the second partial it has had more problems and has fallen to position 20. The regatist of the Royal Nautical Club of Gran Canaria remains in the top ten, is ninth of a class in which the Danish Anne- Marie Rindom dominates with iron fist by adding four wins in the four completed sleeves.

The 49er class has been able to premiere today with three very fluid tests for the three participating groups that have allowed them to return to the ground at 3 p.m. The Galician Luis Bugallo and Jorge Lorenzo have been the most successful Spanish regatists with a partial of 9, 4 and 13 that have placed them in the twenty-fourth square. Diego Botín and Iago López Marra are ranked in position 26 and Federico and Arturo Alonso, in the 30 of a category that is dominated by Australians Kurt Hansen and Simon Hoffman.

The tables have also opened the competition with three tests. In the male category, Mateo Sanz has been the best of the day that he has endorsed with a win in the last sleeve. The former, who sails on behalf of Switzerland, leads a class that is very equal as three regatists, the honkonese Michael Cheng, the Japanese Makoto Tomizawa and Sanz themselves are tied to six points. The best Spanish regatist at the moment is the canary Ángel Granda which is classified in tenth place.

The highest equality is also recorded in the class RS: X Feminine in which three Asian athletes are tied in the first position. Chinese Jie Du and Yue Tan and Thai Siripon Kaewduangngam add up to four points and have opened a small gap with the rest of the favorites. The Andalusian Pilar Lamadrid, ranked in position 23, has been the best national regatist of the day.

In FX, the pulse between New Zealand Alexandra Maloney and Molly Meech and British Charlotte Dobson and Saskia Tidey is maintained. The two teams are tied to 19 points but the Brazilian Martine Grael and Kahena Kunze, who occupy the third square, are standing on their heels. The Catalan Carla and Marta Munté have improved their performance today and with results of 11, 14 and 4 have ascended to the tenth position of the great Majorcan race of Olympic classes.

Ruggero Tita and Caterina Banti have been located at the front of the Nacra17 catamaran category. The Italians have won the third test of the day and have overtaken the New Zealand team of Gemma Jones and Jason Saunders. Tara Pacheco and Florian Trittel, who are in position 14 after having signed a total of 3.8 and 4, are now the best qualified Spanish regatists.

Change of leader in the Finn class, which has been the last to get to port, just before 5: 00. New Zealand Andrew Maloney, who has won the two races today, has gone to the first provisional square and is accompanied on the podium by British Giles Scott and also New Zealand Josh Junior. Joan Cardona, in position 19, remains Finn's best Spanish, a category that is very tight and a bad result can make you lose many positions.

The categories that have completed four or more sleeves, all but the tables and 49er, will divide the fleet from tomorrow into gold groups, where will be the best classified, and silver. The forecast is to perform two or three more tests depending on the wind and class.

Jordi Xammar and Nicolás Rodríguez have been the great national protagonists in the premiere of the 50 Trophy Princesa Sofía Iberostar in the head of the 470 male... in the bay of Palma 1,224 athletes from 67 participating countries, a historical figure.

The crews of 49er and RS: X tables (male and female) have not even gone out to sea, since after several hours of deferral on the ground, the organization has decided to cancel the tests planned for today of these two categories and the rest of the regatists have embarked at noon and have gone to the race field pending the necessary conditions. The most beneficial have been the Nacra and FX49er who have been able to complete three tests, while Finn, Laser, Laser Radial and 470 male and female have performed two.

Jordi Xammar and Nicolás Rodríguez have started the competition with strength and have dominated the first manga from beginning to end. In the second part they have gone from less to more and ended up adding a second place. The Catalan and Galician lead the 470 Male category ahead of the Japanese Keiju Okada and Jumpei Hokazono and the French Hippolyte Machetti and Sidoine Dantès.

A great start in the Majorcan race has also had Silvia Mas (CN s'Arenal) and Patricia Cantero (Real Nautical Club of Gran Canaria) who have been the best in the first manga of 470 Women. In the second partial they have not been able to maintain the same level and have crossed the goal at post 13. With these results, the Spanish pre-Olympic crew has placed fourth in a category that is led by the British Hannah Mills and Eilidh Mcityre.

Three tests have been able to complete the regatists of FX49er, a category that competes divided into two groups. The most outstanding Spanish crew has been that of the Galician Patricia Suárez and Nicole Van der Velden of the Royal Nautical Club of Vigo who have achieved a fifth place in the first and third and a tenth in the second to finish the day in place 11 of the provisional classification. In the struggle for leadership, there was a beautiful duel between British Charlotte Dobson and Saskia Tidey and Australian Natasha Bryant and Annie Wilmot. For the moment, both teams are tied to three points.

The Germans Paul Kohlhoff and Alica Stuhlemmer have been imposed on two of the three tests performed by the Nacra class and lead the table. The New Zealanders Gemma Jones and Jason Saunders and the Italians Ruggero Tita and Caterina Banti, who are second and third, are accompanied on the provisional podium. The best-qualified Spanish team is that of Iker Martínez and Olga Maslivets, who compete for the CN s'Arenal and who occupy position 21.

The Finn class has been the last to complete the intense opening day of this Princess Sofia Iberostar Trophy. The 86 participating regatists have returned to the base of the Nàutic s'Arenal Club around seven o'clock after many hours at sea. Although complicated, the day has been fruitful and two exciting races have been held. The Turkish Alican Kaynar sums up four points, followed by the British veteran regatist Ed Wright, who is second, and the New Zealand Andrew Maloney, who occupies the third place. Joan Cardona has taken advantage of his great knowledge of the Bay of Palma to be placed in the tenth square. The regatist of the Real Club Náutico de Palma, with a partial of 9 and 6, has been the best Spanish in the category.

With regard to the Laser category, Russian Sergei Komissarov, Hungarian Benjamin Vadnai and Norwegian Hermann Tomasgaar have been the winners in the first disputed test of the three groups in which the fleet is divided. The Manuel Barber of the Mahono Maritime Club has finished fourth of its group and has been the most prominent local regatist pending the final classifications of today's second test.
