The Spanish navigator, Alex Pella, returns to the Atlantic. Tomorrow, Saturday, March 23, he will participate in the Défi Atlantique Guadalupo-Horta-La Rochelle, in the "Made in midi," by Kito de Pavant. This test, in which they will travel 3,500 nautical miles, is organized by Grand Pavois, in collaboration with Class 40, will sail the Atlantic from west to east, with crew to two, from Pointe-à-Pitre, with scale in the Azores and estimated arrival to La Rochelle on April 13.

The first stage of this race will reach Horta, in Las Azores, more than 2200 miles away. An interesting first stage for weather conditions, as it will be necessary to go north to find a west wind system, but to remain south enough, to avoid the effects of low pressure.

On February 23, 2018 Alex Pella achieved a new record, making the Tea Route in 36 days, 2 hours, 38 minutes and 2 seconds, exceeding the previous record in five days. This challenge was in addition to those already achieved in recent years. On November 16, 2017, Alex Pella managed to win the Transat Jacques Vabre, on board the "Arkema" tribe. This new victory was in addition to its most recent successes. In 2014, he won the victory on the mythical Rum Route and became the first Spanish to win a solo transoceanic test. And, on January 26, 2017, he beat the record of absolute speed back to the world by sailing, on board the sophisticated Maxi-Trimaran IDEC Sport. Alex, along with the rest of the team, made history, circling the planet in 40 days, 23 hours, 30 minutes and 30 seconds.
