TransMediterranean presents in the Port of Motril the ship "City of Granada"
After the regulatory stray, the old "Sorolla" has been in the new name "City of Granada" since the last weekend, following the wake of other vessels renamed as "City of Palma" and "Ciudad Autónoma Melilla," in the Trasmediterranean's commitment to recover the names of the cities in the ships that make up their fleet. During the weekend an event was held with this motive in the port of Motril, before rejoining the ship "City of Granada" to its usual line Almería- Melilla.
A wide representation of authorities and institutions participated in the presentation of the new "City of Granada" in the Port of Motril. Among the attendees, the mayor of the city of Granada, Francisco Cuenca; the president of the Provincial Diputación, José Entrena; the delegate of the government of Andalusia in Granada, Pablo García Pérez; the lieutenant mayor of Motril, Alicia Crespo, as well as the president of the Harbour Authority of Motril, José García Fuentes, and the maritime captain, Fernando Ramos, among other personalities, who have praised the initiative of those responsible for the shipping by choosing the name of the city of Granada to reactivate one of its ships. On the part of the shipping company the responsible for Institutional Relations, Paulino Rivero, together with Juan Pablo Marredo and Miguel Pardo, commercial leaders of the shipping group, participated in the event.
The ship "City of Granada" is 172 meters long, 26.2 meters manga and 9.2 meters point and reaches 24 knots of speed. It meets the highest standards for quality, safety and environmental preservation. Designed with the latest technological advances, it has capacity for 1,250 people who can travel in accommodation of cabins Class Club and Class Tourist, cabins for people with reduced mobility and seats. It can transport 330 vehicles and 1,800 linear meters of cargo.
