The Royal Nautical Club of Valencia this week hosts the individual light sailing tests for Paris 2024

The Royal Nautical Club of Valencia is during this week the place where will decide the boat that will compete at the Olympic Games of Paris 2024 in the category of individual light sail. A committee of experts from World Sailing, International Sailing Federation, together with a group of light-sailing Olympic regatists, are in the Valencian club this week conducting tests with the four boats selected to determine which, in the opinion of World Sailing, would be most advisable as an Olympic option.

This week's tests include eleven high-level regatists, including Pavlos Kontides, twice world champion and silver medal in London 2012 or the Mexican Tania Elias Calles, four times Olympic, as well as the shipyards of the four selected boats, Laser, Melges 24, RS Aero and Devoti D- Zero.

The regatists are conducting tests with the ships, whose results will be evaluated through a general committee of experts made up of event and equipment specialists, athletes, coaches or managers who analyze with the participating athletes factors ranging from the physical ability to sail on the ship to sustainability, and discuss with the shipyards representatives other aspects such as the cost or distribution of their vessels. All this information will be gathered in a recommendation report following the event, which will be presented in mid-May in London at the World Sailing mid-year meeting.
