ANAVRE alert shipowners to the legal problems of their ships with a Brexit without agreement

The problems of those Community ships if they get a Brexit without agreement in British waters will be very serious, according to ANAVRE by report of the European Boating Association (Infography of Blue Europe)
The Secretary General of the EBA (European Boating Association), to which Anavre is a member, gives us the following statement: On 29 March 2019, it is quickly approaching without agreement between the European Union and the United Kingdom. We believe it is appropriate to recall the advice (mentioned in our General Assembly in Helsinki in October) that the EBA received from the European Commission.
In the case of Brexit "without agreement," the ships in the United Kingdom at that time will lose their European Union status (i.e. they will lose their right to free movement in the EU). Upon their return to the EU, they shall be treated as non-Union products and shall be subject to customs checks in the same way as any other vessel coming from a third country. This could lead to VAT and, where appropriate, to import duties.
We believe it is appropriate to alert our members to this information in order to know the possible financial implications of having a boat in the United Kingdom in case of a Brexit "without agreement."
Choral greetings.
