The Spanish Federation of Piragüismo will be a candidate for Castrelo de Miño in Orense to host in 2020 the first edition of the World Esprint Championship of non-Olympic tests.

This new international competition aims to host this town with the support of the Galician territorial and the institutions of the Xunta de Galicia, the Diputación de Orense and the local council... Juan José Román Mangas, president of Spanish, has announced that the Federation will defend the possibility that Castrelo de Miño can be the stage of the international competition planned for speed tests that are not included in the Olympic program.

The president has pointed out that this would be the first time that Spain would host a World Speed, which would coincide with the organization in 2020 of the World Championships of Slalon and Braves... previously, in the marathon mode, Zamora was the headquarters of the World Cup 2002, Valladolid of the 2003 edition and Bañolas hosted it in 2010.
