The Director General of the Tax Agency expressed his commitment to transfer the proposal to the Ministry of Finance and the autonomous communities

The Secretary General of ANEN, Carlos Sanlorenzo, accompanied by the tax adviser of the association, Miguel Ángel Serra, met with the general director of the Tax Agency, Jesús Gascón, to raise, among other matters, the urgent need to eliminate or reform in depth the IEDTM (registration tax) which taxes with 12% of its value the first acquisition of a recreational boat of more than 8 meters in length, as well as its use in Spain in certain circumstances.

The representatives of ANEN explained at the meeting the reasons why this tax, which only exists in Spain, should be amended as quickly as possible. A claim of the nautical sector that has the support of all the political parties, as expressed at the 5th Nautical Congress of ANEN held in Palma in March 2017, a support that is reaffirmed in the proposals of the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Tourism, in its Sectoral Plan for Industry, and which became known during the event of the presentation of the Sectoral Agenda of the Naval Industry, in which the content of which has collaborated ANEN, which took place on 15 March. They also argued that this tax is a low collection, which is obsolete, against the positive impact of its elimination on productivity, on the collection itself and on the generation of employment.
