Balearic Islands is the Autonomous Community that leads the Spanish nautical market, with the highest share and with a growth of its total enrolment (+ 29.40%) at the close of 2018... Catalonia goes to second position by market share and records a decrease of -13.68% in its enrolment... Andalusia retains the third position of the nautical market and has a growth of + 11.42%.

The market for recreational craft in Spain has recorded an increase in its enrolment of 3.3% in the cumulative one of 2018 compared to the result of 2017, with 5,545 enrolments compared to 5,368 in 2017.

Of the total number of registrations (5,275), 4,037 are for private use vessels, which produce the best result in the last three years and grow by 7.5% over 2017. The water charter market (rental of recreational boats) has 1,508 enrolments, -6.5% compared to last year's data, reflecting the stabilization of this market that in 2014 experienced a historical growth of 60%.

By length, the ships between 6 and 8 meters is the most growing segment (15.1%), followed by the ships between 12 and 16 meters (9.1%) and small boats up to 6 meters (1.2%). Enrolments in the segment between 8 and 12 meters (_ 7.6%) fall and the length of 16 meters is maintained with the same result.

The largest demand on the Spanish nautical market remains for ships up to 8 meters long, which account for 89.2% of the total enrolment in 2018.

By market, the registration of water motorcycles is the most growing (13.3%), followed by those of folding tyres (4.3%), those of sailboats (1.9%) and those of motor ships (0.4%), the latter are still the most demanded with a market share of 43.1%. Semi-rigid pneumatic enrolments are the only ones that fall (-2.8%) in 2018.

The rental market has a decrease of -6,5% compared to 2017, reflecting the trend towards the stabilization of this market which in 2014 recorded an unprecedented take-off, with a growth of 60%.

The most required for rental use are ships up to 8 meters that represent 84.1% of the nautical charter market, coinciding with the global market. The registration of vessels intended for the charter that have grown most in 2018 are those of ships between 6 and 8 meters (10.6%) and those that have recorded the greatest decrease are those that correspond to vessels over 16 meters (-17.6%).

By type of boat, the folding pneumatic are the ones that have experienced the greatest increase in registration in the charter market (28.6%), while the greatest decrease has been for the water bikes (-12.8%).

With the highest market share (20.16%) and an increase in its enrolment of 29.40%, Balearic Islands closes 2018 at the head of the Spanish nautical market. Catalonia goes to second position by market share (18.78%) and has a decrease in its enrolments of -13.68%. In the third market share position, Andalusia (17.94%) is maintained with an increase in its enrolment of 11.42% in 2018.

In the rental market, Balearic Islands is also located as the Autonomous Community with the highest market share (28.85%), followed by Catalonia (22.54%) and the Valencia Community (17%).
