The 43 edition of the International Olympic and Promotional Class Regatta of the World Sailing, Christmas Race, has brought together 260 crew from 22 countries in Palamós Bay. Italy, Croatia and Germany with two wins and Britain and Austria with one, have been the countries that have risen to the top of the podium in the eight participating classes.
The 470 Italian crew formed by Matteo Cappurro and Matteo Puppo have won the Manuel Albalat Trophy, to the absolute champion crew of the Palamós Christmas Race. The National Council Trophy of Girona to the best youth has been for the British Joseph Mullan.
The Croatian victories for Milan Vujasinović in Finn and Elena Vorobeva in Laser Radial; the German for Sophie Steinlein / Jonas Vila in 420 and Luise / Helena Wasser; the Italian for Matteo Cappurro / Matteo Puppo in 470 and Elisabetta Fedele / Beatrice Martini in 420; the British for Joseph Mullan in Laser Standard and the Austrian for Pirmin Sablating in Laser Radial.
In Finn Milan Vujasionvic, European bronze in 2016, he finally won the Palamós Christmas Race after four participations in which he remained at the gates of victory. In the last edition it was second and in this one it has finally been raised with the triumph it so longed for. The Spanish Alex Muscat (CN El Garraf) and Joan Cardona (RCN Palma), second and third respectively, have accompanied him on the podium. Cardona became the first leader.
In Laser Radio Feminino the Croatian Elena Vorobeva has taken the win after a great third day, exceeding the British Clementine Thompson, second and Matilda Nicholls, third. The first leader. The Fátima Reyes (CN S'Arenal) has been the first Spanish in eighth position.
In 470 after Capurro / Puppo, leaders from beginning to end gave no choice to the rest of the fleet, imposing a 14-point advantage over the second, the French Alexandre Demange and Paco Lepoutre. The Portuguese Diogo and Pedro Costa have completed third parties. In this class the only Spanish crew, the Andalusian bats of José Manuel Ruíz and Gabriel Utrera (CN Mar Minor / RC El Candado) have closed the Palamós Christmas Race in the tenth position.
In Laser Standard the domino has been totally British, copying the first three podium posts: Joseph Mullan, Jordan Giles and Ben Flower. The Catalan Món Cañellas (CN Cambrils) has closed its fourth participation tied to points with the third.
In Laser Radial Male, the victory has been the Austrian Pirmin Sablating, with the British Arthur Fry, who repeats second position. Third is the end of the British also Nicholas Welbourn. The first Spanish was Ricard Castellví (CN Cambrils) in the twenty-second place.
In 420 the mixed crew formed by the Germans Sophie Steinlein and Jonas Royla have put themselves first with only one point ahead of the Italians Demetrio Sposato / Gabriele Centrone and Riccardo Sepe / Ettore Cyril, second and third respectively. The Gallegos Jacobo García and Antoni Ripoll (RCN Sanxenxo), first leaders, are fourth to two points of the Germans, after performing a 4-1-DNF, this last result due to a blow that left them out of play. 21 / 12 / 2018: The 43 Palamós Christmas Race varies its leaders in the absence of a day
The wind blew again with desire at 43 Christmas Race, and the bay of Palamós was a show with winds that reached 20 knots and had as a result a change in leadership in all classes. In Finn Milan Vujasinović, Joan Cardona has been bankrupt from the lead in Finn. In 470 the Italians dominate Matteo Capurro / Matteo Puppo, being the only ones who hold the first place; in 420 the German ones Sophie Steinlein / Jonas Royla, in Laser Radial Standard the British Joseph Mullan, in Radio Feminino the Croatian Elena Vorobeva and in Masculino the Austrian Pirmin Sablatnig.
Vujasinović will seek to win Christmas Race for the first time, after staying at the gates in the last editions in the Finn class. The Croatian has marked two first and one second that place him at the head of the after performing 1-1-2. The Catalan Alex Muscat (CN Garraf) with 2-2-3 has been placed second to three points of the leader and thus surpassing Joan Cardona (RCN Palma) that with a 6, a DNC and a 1 is third to four points of Vujasinović.
In 470, the Italians Matteo Capurro and Matteo Puppo have opened their head and have the Christmas Race in their hand. The transalpine crew will leave on the final day with a 14-point advantage over the second, the Alexandre Demange and Paco Lepoutre. The Portuguese Diogo and Pedro Costa have placed third parties. The only Spanish crew in this class, made up of José Manuel Ruíz and Gabriel Utrera (CN Mar Menor / RC El Candado), began the day with a seventh but did not compete in the following two sleeves, thus falling from the second to the tenth position.

After a first day of 43 spectacular Palamós Christmas Race, the second one went the other way because the wind did not make an act of presence and no tests could be held.
At two o'clock in the afternoon the organization sent the fleet to the water, as the forecast gave a minimum of possibilities for some wind to come in, but finally an hour later the day was taken for granted.

The first day of the 43 edition of the Christmas Race, which is held until December 22 in the waters of the Bay of Palamós has been complete in all classes. The shooting Joan Cardona (RCN Palma) in the Olympic class Finn and the Galician Jacobo García and Antonio Ripoll (RCN Sanxenxo) in the class 420 have been placed leaders after the first day. The Catalans Alex Muscat (CN Garraf) and Món Cañellas (CN Cambrils) occupy the third position in Finn and Laser Standard respectively.
Joan Cardona is the current junior world subchampion of the Finn class and in Palamós has started strong, demonstrating its potential from the first day with three podium results, 1-3-1. The Menorcan regatist, who last year was fourth in the Christmas Race, is first placed with a four-point income on the Croatian Milan Vujasinović, who with a 3-1-5, led the competition after the second test of the day, but who was finally overtaken by Cardona. The other Spanish pre-Olympic, the Catalan Alex Muscat (CN Garraf) was from less to more with a 6-2-2, which put him in third position and breaking the gap with the fourth, the Irish Oisin McClelland, to which he has seven points.
In the Laser Standard class head the fleet the British Joseph Mullan, with a 2-5-2, although the Belarusian Pavel Babich, which began with a tenth place, added two first in a consecutive way, which place him provisionally second, tied to 12 points with the Catalan Món Cañellas, which is third in general after performing a 3-4-5.
In Laser Radio Feminino the Olympic veteran of Belarus Tatiana Drovsdovskaya heads the fleet after performing a 3-5-2, exceeding by two and three points the British Matilda Nichols, second and Clementine Thompson, third. The Fátima Reyes (CN S'Arenal) is the first Spanish regatist to hold the fifth position after performing an 11-7-6. The subchampion of the world sub17, the Sevillian Ana Moncada, occupies the sixth position, two points behind Reyes.
In Laser Radio Male British domain, in which seven are among the top ten. Arthur Fry is the leader, second to the Austrian Pirmin Sablating, and third to Matt Beck.
The 420 class, the largest with 99 participants, the fleet was divided into two groups, yellow and blue. After three tests the subchampions of sub- 17 Europe, the Galician Jacobo García and Antonio Ripoll, have placed themselves at the head of the general, tied to points with the French Youen Fourn and Mathis Guessard. One point behind was the Italian Demetrio Sposato and Gabriele Centrone.
In the 470 class, the Russians Pavel Sozkyin and Denis Gribanov, who have performed 1-3-1, followed to a point by the Italians Matteo Capurro and Matteo Puppo, third to two Alexandre Demange and Paco Lepoutre. The Spanish José Manuel Sánchez and Gabriel Utrera (CN Mar Menor / RC El Candado) are fourth to eight points of the podium squares... classifications:
