They shall incorporate all measures on MARPOL environmental regulations, such as the new propellant, auxiliary and emergency engines, as well as the TAR waste water treatment plant.It will also bring improvements aimed at reducing weight, new equipment, the adequacy for a higher endowment and the implementation of the updated rules on prevention and operational safety. Its main missions are:
Protection and escort of other vessels
Maritime traffic control
Control and neutralization of terrorist and piracy actions
Operations against drug trafficking and human trafficking
Sea rescue and rescue operations
Crisis support and humanitarian aid
Control of fishing legislation
Control of environmental and anti-pollution legislation
