The Christmas Race of Palamós has 250 ships from 22 countries on its 43rd birthday

The legendary Olympic sailing race, which will be held between 19 and 22 December, has been presented in the Espai del Peix de Palamós
The 43 edition of the Christmas Race, the Olympic and promotional class regatta of the World Sailing, was presented this noon at the Espai del Peix de Palamós, where the main lines of this edition of the Gerundense regatta have been made known.
The event was led by the mayor of Palamós Lluís Puig and the president of the CN Costa Brava / Vela Palamós, Eduard Sellés; accompanied by the general sports delegate, Josep Pujols; the president of the CNCB / VP Sports Commission, Miquel Avigó and the vice-president of the Federació Catalana de Vela, Josep Maria Isern.
A week before the start of the competition, to be held from 19 to 22 December, there is a registration of 250 vessels from 22 countries from three continents, which demonstrates the strong potential of the Palamosense race, which makes it the most outstanding Olympic class competition of the winter, being a year more starting point of the Olympic sailing season.
The 43 Christmas Race features in this year's program the Olympic classes Finn, Laser Standard, Laser Female Radio and 470 Male and Female and the promotions of the World Sailing (International Sailing Federation) Laser Male Radio and 420 Male and Female Radio.
The country with the greatest participation will be Spain with 88 ships, followed by Great Britain with 44. It will have the presence of crews from countries as far away as Canada, Venezuela, Hong Kong, Peru and Taiwan, among others... the European countries present will be: Austria, Belarus, Croatia, Germany, Spain, France, Great Britain, Netherlands, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Poland, Portugal, Russia, Switzerland and Ukraine.
