Photo of the event of the tribute offered by the Spanish Olympic Committee (COE) to the athletes who took part in 1980 in the JJOO of Moscow and Lake Placid, in all sports, including rowing, pyragüism and sailing The Olympic subchampions in Moscow 80 in the K2 500-meter test, Herminio Menéndez and Guillermo del Riego, have today participated in Madrid in the tribute offered by the Spanish Olympic Committee (COE) to the athletes who took part in this event, in which Spain achieved 6 medals, two of them in pyragüism, as it also added a bronze presea in K2 1,000 metres with the boat manned by Herminio Menéndez and Luis Gregorio Ramos Misioné. The president of the COE, Alejandro Blanco, and his counterpart of the Spanish Federation of Piragüismo, Juan José Román Mangas, have delivered the diploma and credit card of the recognition paid to the competitors in 1980 at the Olympic Games in Moscow and Lake Placid. In the closing speech of the event attended by more than half a hundred athletes, Blanco has stressed that the Pyragüismo had already premiered his locker as an Olympic medalist in Montreal76 with the silver medal of the K4, and has emphasized that with the two medals achieved in Moscow he has established his path to become what is today, "one of the great sports of Spain." The president of the Spanish Olympic Committee, Alejandro Blanco, offered with the presidents of the Spanish federations, including our president Asunción Loriente, distinctions to each of the participants. In the case of the rowing, the honored athletes were Jose Luis Corta Elizondo, Isidro Lluís Martín Solano, José Pardas Grau, Javier Sabriá Pitarch and Manuel Vera Vázquez.
