Oliver Design, a company specializing in design and naval architecture based in Getxo, has just completed the tasks of enabling the "Norwegian Gannet," an innovative salmon transport and processing ship built in the Balenciaga S.A. Shipyards of Zumaya.
The firm was first responsible for the interior design project of a ship called to be a reference for aquaculture in Northern Europe for its innovations in logistics and energy, but at the same time it will mark a new international standard on working ships for the high levels of comfort for its crew.
The ship sailed on 10 November from Pasajes, to its base port in the Norwegian town of Bergen, where it is expected to arrive next day 16. The unique nature of this innovative fishing vessel gives the idea that a public presentation has been organized for next Saturday, in a ceremony to which it plans to attend representatives of the Norwegian government, shipowners, potential customers and collaborators.
Oliver Design staff have invested about 60,000 hours of work in a project whose empowerment began in February 2018. Over the course of these nine months, the company has kept an average of 25 operators (both personal and outsourced) permanently at the Balenciaga facilities, with peak work in which this figure has reached 40.
The interior spaces of the ship total 2,000 square meters distributed on five decks, and constitute a reference in the naval sector for the high level of comfort required in all the units. In addition to all the enabling of these spaces for rest and leisure, it has also dealt with the bridge of command and part of the fish processing facilities: insulation and lined with high quality materials of storage and processing spaces, as well as the cooling vats.
The units of the ship where the fish will be processed have required a careful sealing with glass fiber panels, along with other insulation whose installation has been complex by space limitations, to ensure 100% the hygienic conditions of these operations.
