Jaime Oliver, will deliver a conference on "Strategies in the design of cruise ships" on 12 November at the headquarters of the Spanish Institute of Engineering (IIE). The talk is entered in the Day "Tourism, cruises and naval architecture, a combination of success"organized by the IIE Committee on Maritime Affairs.

The event will take place in the Hall of Actos of the Institute, located on the Arrando No. 38 of Madrid, from 18: 00. The day will begin with a welcome and presentation by Carlos del Álamo, president of the IIE, and José Esteban Pérez García, who heads his Committee on Maritime Affairs, followed by a presentation on Tourism and the maritime sector by Manuel Butler, Executive Director of the United Nations World Tourism Organization. Jaime Oliver's intervention is scheduled for 18: 50, and a colloquium open to the public will be opened at its conclusion.

Jaime Oliver Pérez (born 03-08-1940) is a naval engineer who graduated in 1964 from the School of Naval Engineers in Madrid. Over 50 years of professional career, he has been involved in the design of about 400 ships of the most varied type: from working ships to mega- yachts, through ferries, passenger ships, sailboats, etc. It has several patents and a fortnight of national and international awards for various projects. He has participated in more than 40 conferences and presentations in forums in various countries, and has been present at more than 80 naval fairs around the world. He began his professional career at the shipyard La Naval de Sestao (Vizcaya), for which he worked between 1965 and 1973. In 1971 he founded the company Astilleros Revilo in Santurce, in which he built 27 recreational boats until 1978, and with which he was present in the nautical halls of Barcelona, Dusseldorf or Miami, among others. From 1978 to 1990, from his own technical office, he worked for Celaya Shipyards in projects such as yachts, passenger ships and several school ships, working simultaneously with Spanish Shipyards, E.N. Bazan, Izar and Navantia. In 1990 he founded Oliver Design, whose project catalogue includes about 400 ships, from school ships to recreational and tourist yachts, through transport ships, fishing, dredging, ferris, cruises, etc. The company's trajectory is credited by multiple international awards and awards, including several Shippax naval design awards. Its services catalogue includes not only the project, but also the empowerment of interiors and even complete superstructures, seeking to provide a comprehensive service to all types of customers in the naval sector. Based in the town of Getxo, the company also has delegations in the ports of Santander and Cadiz.
