The Real Club Náutico de Valencia has celebrated this weekend The Intrepid Race, its new height test only suitable for avezado regatists, as participants must travel 135 miles between Valencia and Columbretes passing through Culera without scales. On Friday morning the fleet took off at 12: 30 from the Royal Nautical Club of València with a low wind of 5 knots of intensity. After bordering the Penyeta del Moro in Culera, they were heading for Columbretes, a total of 135 miles with winds reaching the 18 - 20 knots at night.
After bordering the Culera beacon in third position, the Swan 42 Brujo, by Alberto de Castro, with José Luis Francés as a crew, was a real-time leader, a position he did not leave during the entire race. Thus, on Saturday morning, of Castro, of RCN Valencia, was the first to cross the line of arrival in the Royal Nautical Club of Valencia, after 20 hours and 48 minutes of journey, becoming the winner of the test in real time.
Five hours later, Ziving Badia, Javier Arbona, of RCN Valencia, arrived with his Grand Soleil 46, followed by Bandido, Juan Carlos Otamendi of Port Ginesta, and Inteman, of José Daniel Martín, of RCM Barcelona, which had the experienced ocean regatist Diddac Costa on board as crew. Eight of the participating ships will make the journey to two, that is, with two crew, while one of them, the Menut of Miquel Dellos, will sail alone and Anna of Jesus Cirera, will do it with full crew. The participation of the well-known ocean regatist Didac Costa, as a crew member of the Barcelona Inteman, by José Daniel Martín, is noteworthy. Costa participated in 2016 in the most extreme race in the world, the Vendée Globe, a return to the world alone, without scales or assistance, in which it was 14th. He was also the winner of the Mare Nostrum race in 2016 and fourth ranked in 2015 at the Barcelona World Race.
