03 / 11 / 2018: Without wind on Saturday and the Meeting of Optimist of Vigo in white at the expense of Sunday

vigo

As was the case at the Meeting of Viana do Castelo last week, the second of the three days of the Meeting International Cidade de Vigo took place without any race. In Portugal by excessive wind; in Galicia by non-existent wind. Because the absence of wind throughout the morning and early afternoon left the fleet on the ground.

At about three and a half hours the day was decided to be completed, thus maintaining the positions of Friday, with everything to be decided: the winner of the Cidade de Vigo, the winner of the Atlantic Week and the first leader of the Optimist Excellence Cup 2018 / 19, whose next stop will be in January in the Port of Santa Maria.

When only two trials are held for now, the Friday groups remain in force and leader (Jaime Ayarza, RCN Gran Canaria) and second classified (Javier Ojeda, RCN Gran Canaria) will sail in the red group, along with Nuno Meijide (RCN Vigo, 11th), Simón Codoñer (RCN Valencia, 12th) and Aitor Carton (Marítimo del Abra, 13th). In the blue, Miguel Campos (RCR of Alicante), who goes third in the general, has three rivals of the Provisional Top Ten: Mateo Codoñer (RCN Valencia), Marie Pintelon (DOC Belgium) and Álvaro

Alonso (RCN Gran Canaria), fifth to seventh of the table, respectively. And with them, the Viguese regatist Stella Enríquez (RCN Vigo, 19th) and the luso Guilherme Capaco (GCN Faro), which is second in the computation of Viana and Vigo regats, the classification decided by the Atlantic Week champion of Optimist.

Optimist Atlantic Week can end the Spanish domain of the last two editions. The Belgian Kwinten Borghijs (DOC Belgium), who will sail in the yellow group, is leader of the title of the A-B Divisions with 24 points (series 3-1-1-1-2-1 in Viana and 12-3 in Vigo). There's no discards in the week. Capaco, a regatist of the Algarve, has gone down to the second square: he had joined six first places in Portugal, but on Friday he signed a nineteenth and a nineteenth that put him with 37. In C, Mariana Martins (CN Tavira), third in the Vigués meeting, is the interim leader of the Week (25 points), with ten of advantage over Jannis Rauterberg Tomaz (CV de Lagos).

02 / 11 / 2018: Pio, pio... the canaries command in Vigo after the first day of the Meeting of Optimist

El comité de regatas solo pudo cubrir dos de las tres pruebas previstas por culpa de un viento rolón

The race committee was able to cover only two of the three tests planned because of a roll wind.

The first of the three days of the Meeting International Cidade de Vigo, organized by the Real Club Nautico in the yellow) and the Real Club Nautico in Valencia (Mateo Codoñer in the blue and Fernando Puig in the yellow) gave partial victories to the regatists of the Real Club Nautico in Gran Canaria (two to Jaime Ayarza in the red group and another to Pol Vía- Dufresne in the yellow), with two regatists coping the first two positions of the general classification - B.

The Rías fleet may have had more prominence but Bruno Ameneiro (RCN Sanxenxo), a subchampion in Viana do Castelo, was one of the UFD on the first exit. It cost him 84 points but then he was able to win the second test of his group, the blue one, to go up to position 117. Easy. Much remains to be fought, not in vain the pontevedrés is one of the favorites to get the title of Atlantic Week 2018.

After a quiet afternoon of protests the classification placed Jaime Ayarza, with two first in the red group, and his club partner Javier Ojeda (RCN Gran Canaria), with two seconds, as first and second, respectively, with 2 and 4 points. After them, Miguel Campos (RCR Alicante), who with a seventh and a second in the blue group amounts to 9 points, the same as Brecht Zwaenepoel (Royal Yatch Club van Belgie), who in the yellow group signed a second and a seventh.

The Belgian was seventeenth in Vigo in 2017. Mateo Codoñer (RCN Valencia) won the first test in the blue fleet, but went to the eleventh place in the second race of the afternoon, down to the fifth place in the general.

This Saturday from 11: 00 in the morning, the second day and the same groups... if two races can be played, a discard will come into play... and on Sunday there could be gold series.

The Cidade de Vigo International Meeting, from Friday to Sunday at the Ria de Vigo with the organization of the Royal Nautical Club of Vigo and the sponsorship of the Pontevedra Recession, will beat the record of participation in recent years. This is confirmed by the numbers handled by the organization.

The Viguese fleet is made up of regatists of the Real Club Nautico de Vigo (31), directed by Alejandra Suárez, and Maritimo de Canido (16), trained by Hilda Martín, will face its greatest challenge of the lustro: it will battle against about 240 rivals from all over Spain. Portugal, Great Britain, Ireland, Belgium, Mozambique, India, Latvia and Malta, in the absence of a large number of entries, still pending completion of all documentation.

At the beginning, the Vigo fleet will be measured to the Galician (Sanxenxo, Rodeira, Monte Real, Coruña, Aguete and Bazan), to the Cantábrico (Marítimo de Santander, Marítimo del Abra and Laredo), to the Mediterranean fleet (Palamós, El Masnou, Cambrils, Valencia, Alicante, Campello, Benidorm and Denia), as well as to the canaries, madrileños and Gaditanos, and... to an international fleet that will exceed the hundreds of clubs of Portugal.

The Meeting Cidade de Vigo, which is also Excellence Cup, will thus meet its continued growth since in 2014 Nautico and Clube de Vela Viana do Castelo signed a collaboration agreement that will continue in 2019.
