The Galician palist Yoel Becerra celebrates with "joy" and "tremendous illusion" the bronze medal obtained at the Olympic Youth Games in Buenos Aires, where the pontevedrés has achieved the third place in the trial of C1 slalon obstacles, which is the first Spanish medal in the canoe history in this competition.
The sportsman, belonging to the Club Náutico Rodeira de Cangas de Morrazo, together with the Galician Antía Otero (of the Escuela Piragüismo Ciudad de Pontevedra), is the Spanish representation participating in the tests of piragüismo of the Olympic citation for young people.
Yoel Becerra, 14, has explained that this competition has the peculiarity of fighting in quiet waters in which the palists pull out of a ramp and move forward by pounding a few rotations over a few pivots rather than with the currents passing through doors as in the traditional slalon.
