The Viguese shipyard "Sons of J. Barreras" today celebrated the official launch act of the luxury cruise ship being built by the company "The Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection (RCYC)," which is part of the American consortium Marriott International. The ceremony was attended by Mr Francisco Conde, Conselleiro de Economía y Industria, Mr Abel Caballero, mayor of Vigo, Mr Douglas Prothero de The Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection, Mr Timothy Grisius de Marriot International and the president of the shipyard Barreras, Mr José García Costas, among others.

The ship that has just been launched and in which Barreras has applied its extensive experience in passenger ships and its advanced technological knowledge, is the first such cruise to be built on the Ria de Vigo and the most expensive civilian ship made in Spain. The new construction is a challenge for the shipyard that is among the most advanced and innovative and is now an international reference in the segment of the luxury cruises, market so far almost exclusive of certain European factories. The cruise will be dedicated to the Mediterranean, North Europe, the Caribbean, Latin America, Canada and the United States. He will recalate in Vigo on his first journey through Europe. It will arrive specifically on 29 June 2020 and will remain in the port until 30, when it will leave for Bilbao. Before Vigo, you will also visit the Spanish cities of Barcelona, Palma de Mallorca, Ibiza, Málaga or Cartagena.

These journeys that the shipowning company has scheduled and called "experiences" combine the intimate and relaxing lifestyle on board a yacht with the exclusive and personalized excursions on the ground. In addition, due to its size (190 meters in length, by 23.8 in sleeve and 5.65 in driveway), this cruise will be able to access inaccessible sites and ports for the large cruises, according to Douglas Prothero, the general director of RCYC. It will also make fewer scales, around four per week, to give the customer the experience of traveling in his own megayate.

With 190 m of length and 23.40 m of manga, it is prepared to accommodate up to 544 people on board, in particular 298 passengers and 246 crew members with maximum comfort standards, and will meet all safety requirements for passenger ships as well as the highest environmental safety standards. The hull design has been optimized for greater passenger comfort, reducing noise and vibrations, and improving navigability and maneuverability. It shall be prepared to navigate at a service speed of 16 knots and a maximum of 17.8 knots. The electric diesel power plant has four main generators with a capacity of 3600 kWe each and two 4600 kW each. With a total of 11 decks, the 2, 3 and 4 decks will be dedicated to the crew while from 4 to 8 will be dedicated to the cabin of the passage, all with the outside terrace and designed with luxurious and modern spaces and with wide views for the maximum comfort of the passengers. This ship also has the ratio of crew to the highest guest in the market: one for every 1.5 passengers, for as exclusive attention as possible. In addition, the cruise will have 5 restaurants, 3 swimming pools, 2 jacuzzi, a heliport and a sophomore.
