The sector of the nautical industry of the Balearic Islands and the Palma International Boat Show will go hand in hand to the main international nautical forums with the dual objective of making known the potential of the sector on the islands and the next edition of the Palma Boat Show, which will take place from 27 April to 1 May 2019.

This public-private collaboration is possible thanks to an agreement between the IDI, organizer of the Palma International Boat Show, with the association Balearic Yacht Destination (BYD), which brings together leading companies for repair and refurbishment of ships, complementary nautical and marine services located in the Islands and focused on large-length vessels. In fact, collaboration with BYD began last year with a joint stand at Fort Lauderdale Boat Show.

Following this positive experience, BYD and the Palma International Boat Show went to MYBA Charter Show in Barcelona last April, and will share exhibition space at Monaco Yacht Show, which begins tomorrow, and at Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show (from 31 October to 4 November). In these citations, the nautical industry of the Balearic Islands will be promoted, looking for potential customers to come to the Islands to carry out the work of repair, remodeling and maintenance of ships.

It should be borne in mind that the nautical sector is one of the considered strategic for the Balear economy, as can be seen from the Industrial Plan 2018-2025 presented by the Directorate-General for Industrial Policy of the Labour, Trade and Industry Council.

The recreational nautical sector is concentrated in the Balearic Islands 272 companies, they have billed 561 million euros with an accumulated growth of 10.5% over the four years, and it occupies 2,676 workers. 40% of companies are in the area of reference & repair, both large and small and medium-sized. The rest of the value chain consists of trade, trade and repair firms, charter, brokerage, marines, boat construction, and service agencies.

In addition to Monaco and Fort Lauderdale, the organization of the Palma International Boat Show will go to the Barcelona Nautical Hall (10-14 October) and to the Boot de Dusseldorf (19-27 January 2019) to make known all the new developments of the next edition of one of the most important floating fairs in the Mediterranean.
