The majestic show of the Swan in Porto Cervo

An imposing and heterogeneous fleet of 110 ships of 17 nationalities competed in Porto Cervo for the 20th edition of the Rolex Swan Cup... Spanish participation was resolved in a brilliant way with the victories of thePorron IXof Louis Senis in the class Swan 45 for the second year in a row and thePlis Playof Vicente García in the Maxi Swan class.

The first official world class ClubSwan 50 brought together 12 units of the powerful monotype designed by Juan K. The absence of discards, the equality between units and the rule that requires the ship to be typed by its shipowner, kept the emotion throughout the week. Proof of the impressive level of competition, seven teams distributed the partial wins in the ten sleeves disputed.

The Spanish Porron IX arrived in Porto Cervo as a defender of the world title of the Swan 45 class achieved last year in Palma, but his archirrival Elena Nova had taken the victory at the past Rolex Swan Cup. Among the two teams, eight of the ten sleeves were divided, marked by a constant: Porron IX sailed better in light breezes, while Elena Nova won as the intensity of the wind rose.

A fleet of 14 ships competed for the European class title ClubSwan 42. Romanian Natalia arrived with the favorite vitola after chained the last three class victories in Porto Cervo, but on this occasion the team led by Natalia Brailoiu had to recover from a discreet start of the week ending their participation with partial victories in four of the last five contested sleeves.

The Swan Maxi category brought together a diverse fleet of 60 to 100 feet (18 to 30 meters), including one of the last additions to the Swan universe, the Swan 78 Haromi, and the largest of this edition, the Swan 100 Varsobe.
