It was presented at the headquarters of Abanca in Vigo, the great multiclase event of the nautical of the north-west peninsular that includes sailing, rowing and pyragüism competitions: the Abanca Week, to be held from September 15 to November 10 in the waters of the Rías Baixas and Altas de Galicia, as well as on the coast of northern Portugal, with the federal support of the three nautical sports par excellence, and the support of much of the main nautical clubs of the Atlantic area.
The event was chaired by the mayor of Vigo Abel Caballero, and was attended by the president of the Receptación de Pontevedra Carmela Silva, thus with the maximum responsibility of the Harbour Authority of Vigo Enrique López Veiga, the Consortium of the Free Zone of Vigo David Regades and the Xunta of Galicia in Vigo Ignacio López Chaves.
The event was opened by the president of the Executive Committee Manuel Pedro Seoane, closing the chapter of the interventions of the organizers Walter Alvarez territorial director of Abanca. They were followed by representatives of two of the most ancient companies supporting this event: Gadis and Coca Cola, as well as that of Anfaco, Juan Vieites who this year has bet on his presence.
The intervention shift was completed, with the institutions and closing the presentation of Abel Caballero. The Abanca Week is a macro event that was born in the early part of this century when it was the headline of the Xunta of Galicia Manuel Fraga, suffering a great boost from the then Government of Touriño. The basic philosophy is to unite efforts between the Galician nautical in a way of solidarity between nautical clubs throughout Galicia, without forgetting the peninsular areas with which the historical relations are evident: case of Asturias, Northern Portugal and even the Lands of Bierzo, which are on the agenda of the Abanca Week in the medium term.
The competition starts on Saturday in the waters of the Ria de Vigo, with the Coca Cola Series of the hand of the Club Marítimo de Canido, reserved for the youth and senior sailing. The next event in Bouzas, with a leading role for the Pyragüism, organized by the Olívico Club. The third also in Bouzas with cruise races and the Regata Gadis in progress, to be the fourth the star cycle of the Week Abanca 2018: the European Laser Master Championship that organize the Bouzas Maritime Liceo and the Club Marítimo de Vigo, which have the support of the vast majority of the clubs of the Ria de Vigo and that will be held in the Central Dársena Sports of the Harbour Authority of Vigo. There will be 150 ships from three continents and 20 countries. Among them the US, Canada, Australia, Argentina and Brazil, as well as the whole "European Navy," since the European is "Open."
The European will take place from 5 to 11 October (it has been taken into account for its programming, the completion dates of Conxemar), and will be in competition 150 standard and radial laser from 20 countries, mostly from all over Europe, but since it is an "Open" event will compete ships from Australia, the United States, Canada, Argentina and Brazil. The standard will compete for the Grand Prix Concello de Vigo and the radials will compete for the Grand Prix Recession of Pontevedra.
After this event the Week Abanca 2018 is moved to the Herculine city with the Lexus Breogán Cup that organizes the Real Club Náutico de La Coruña, from there to Leixóes with the Meeting Vanguard under the baton of the Clube de Vela Atlántico, back to the north of Galicia with the Regata Teras Guda in the Club Náutico de Sada and finally the cycles of school and traditional in Marín, in early November, among which are the Spanish Championship of Yolas with all Spanish athletes.
