The event of the fifth Maritime Action Ship (BAM), the "Audaz" (P-45), was held in San Fernando. The ceremony was chaired by Ángel Olivares Ramírez, Secretary of State for Defense and has been attended by the Government Delegate in Andalusia, Alfonso Rodríguez Gómez de Celis, the Admiral Chief of Staff of the Navy (AJEMA), Admiral General Teodoro López Calderón, the President of NAVANTIA Susana Sarriá Sopeña and the Director General of Armamento and Material (DIGAM), Admiral Santiago Ramón González Gómez, as well as other civil and military authorities.

After the arrival of the guests and the military authorities, the Secretary of Defense went to the podium where he was given the honors of ordinance. He then reviewed the force present at the ceremony accompanied by the AJEMA. He then received the other civilian authorities attending, and the ship's delivery to the Navy began.

The ceremony began with an inspection of the ship by a Navy commission, which gave the news to the DIGAM, then the signing of the delivery documentation, from NAVANTIA to the DGAM, and of the transfer from the Ministry of Defence to the Chief Admiral of the Arsenal of Cadiz. After the inauguration of his position by the Ship Commander, the corbeta captain Emilio Damia Marques, the flag was blessed and handed over to the ship.

The "Audaz," whose launch took place on 30 March last year, is the first of the two ships of the extension to the BAM program of the Spanish Navy, according to the execution order signed by the Government on 21 November 2014.

The BAM, a fully Spanish construction model, has highlighted for its excellent performance in the international groupings in which they have integrated, demonstrating its effectiveness and operativity in the most demanding scenarios.

The "Audaz," like its predecessors, has 93.90 m in length, has high performance, flight cover and has a food autonomy for 35 days. The state-of-the-art integrated platform control system developed by Navantia Sistemas allows its operation with a reduced strength, specifically 46 men and women (including one health officer). The missions for which the Maritime Action Ship is designed are, on the one hand, maritime security in low-intensity scenarios, with the capacity to deter and react to asymmetric or conventional threats and, on the other, to protect national maritime interests, working with state security forces and other ministerial departments, in missions of surveillance, rescue, humanitarian aid, the fight against illegal trafficking or the fight against marine pollution.
