The market for recreational craft has grown by 4.3% in the number of registered registration in the eight months after 2018. In total, 4,785 recreational vessels have been registered in Spain compared with 4,589 registered in the same period of 2017, of which 1,392 are for boats for rent (30.33%).

In terms of length, the most important segments are the ships between 6 and 8 meters and between 12 and 16 meters, which increase their enrolment in this period by 13.9% and 13.8%, respectively. The smaller length, up to 8 metres, remains the most demanding and represents 89.6% of the nautical market.

By type of boat, the water bikes have grown most in this period with an increase in their enrolment of 14.4%. Motor ships remain the most demanding boats in Spain, accounting for 42.5% of the nautical market until August this year.

The nautical charter (rental of recreational boats) that represents 30.33% of the nautical market, with 1,392 enrolments in the period enero-depleted, has a good behavior in August with a growth of 15.4%, although in the accumulated year it falls by -4.8% in number of enrolments.

The most growing length in the period enero-August 2018 for the use of rent are the ships between 6 and 8 meters (+ 11.2%) and between 12 and 16 meters (+ 10.3%), coinciding with the global market for recreational boats.

For Autonomous Communities, Balearic Islands leads the nautical market with a share of 20.2% in this period and a growth of its enrolments of + 28.2%, followed by Catalonia which represents 19.6% of the nautical market and which falls by -13.8% in number of enrolments. Thirdly, Andalusia accounts for 17.6% of the nautical market and increases its enrolment in this period by 12.6%.

The charter market is also led by Balearic Islands, which represents 28.16%, followed by Catalonia 23.3% and the Valencia Community with a market share of 16.8%.
