Maria Perelló has once again conquered the World Cup of the Optimist class and does so for the second time in a row, making it the first and only Spanish regatists, both male and female, to get a World Cup twice in a row to date and... there is still time to try to achieve a third.

The last day has been a procedure for the shooting and has limited itself to maintaining a good level and controlling its direct opponents especially the Dutch Yanne Broers who has not been lucky today and has even lost podium. Faith Hailey Toh of Singapore has been at a good level 15-13 that has allowed him to climb up to the second square, something similar has happened to the Swiss Anja von Allmen who in the end has the bronze in the female category.

As for the rest of the national team Pau Mesquida ends at post 30. Manuel Alvarez-Dardet, for his part, says goodbye to the world-wide event in the first square of the silver group, while Nacho Baltasar concludes third in this same group. Alberto Morales, who has sailed in the bronze group, ends up in the first square of his group.

Another historic milestone for the Optimist class is to be noted as the Italian Marco Gradoni also manages to revalidate the title, as Perelló, conquered in Thailand... both are the first to achieve two consecutive worlds.

The World Cup of Optimist, which is in dispute in Cyprus, comes to the last day, Wednesday, September 5, and does so with the current champion and defender of the title, María Perelló, occupying the first place in female. The shooting closed yesterday the penultimate day with two very different partials, although it did not have any options to make the jump to the first square.

With the wind 8-12 of the South-West component (SW), the two planned tests were closed, however, with a slight delay as the first test of the day could be released at 3 p.m. Perelló was not very lucky, marking a 25 but later and already in the second, the shooting left things in place again with a 9th job. A partial that, together with the rest of its opponents, especially the Dutch Yanne Broers, which marked partial of 26 and 43 left the crown defender free.

In this same group Oro, in which Maria Perelló is located in the 14th place in the absolute general and 1st in the femas, Pau Mesquida occupies the 24th place with 118 points and just as Perelló signed two counterpoints. In the first test a 30 and in the second a 11.

Already in the group Silver the Andalusian Manuel Álvarez- Dardet is second with 137 points. He signed 13-22 partials yesterday. Nacho Baltasar, for its part, is fifth with 154 points with results on the day of Tuesday 4 of 10-19. As for Alberto Morales, he remains a leader in the Bronze group with two good partials in yesterday's day: 3-9 that leave him with 171 points.

As for the absolute general, the Italian Marco Grandoni, current champion and champion of the title, is already the virtual champion of the world for the second consecutive year as it has 8 points for the 31 that has the second: the Thai Panwa Boonnak and 35 the American Tommy Sitzmann.

María Perelló, the current world champion of Optimist, and Pau Mequida, the current champion of Spain, have participated this weekend with the Spanish team in the team tests at the Optimist World Cup held in Limasol, Cyprus.

A team championship weekend in which it has been possible to enjoy favourable weather conditions to be able to dispute all the scheduled tests, and in which Spain has managed to get the third place in the world.

Saturday's day began very well for the Spaniards who in their first three clashes managed to win against China and Chile, and only lost to Italy. In addition, luck was allied with Spain when Italy fell against Thailand and, thanks to our victory in Brazil, the team led by Adrià Barceló managed to qualify for the last rounds.

A fight with the top five countries classified and against which Spain managed to win the USA in third place of the tournament, Italy being second ranked and Thailand the winner of the Team Racing.

From today on, the individual tests of the World Cup are being taken in which the regatists of the Nàutic S'Arenal Club will continue to fight to improve their performance and achieve a good result in the overall classification.
