Port Sherry will host the World Championship of Paralympic Sailing 2019
The Puerto Sherry Nautical Club has been chosen for the 2019 Paralympic Sailing World Championship for disciplines 2.4, Hansa and RS venture. The Andalusian candidacy led by the president of the CN Puerto Sherry, Valle de la Riva, and the vocal of Light Sailing, Rafael Martyn-Prat, has won against others of great weight from different parts of the world, thus achieving a milestone for the gaditan, Andalusian and Spanish sailing.
The decision in favour of the CN Puerto Sherry began to be formed following the visit of the representative of the World Sailing (International Sailing Federation) to the marina, during which Rob Holden was able to check first-hand the quality and capacity of the facilities of Puerto Sherry, as well as the compliance with the demanding clauses that are requested for the celebration of such a world. In the same way, the candidacy of the CN Puerto Sherry had since first instance the endorsement of the Andalusian Federation of Vela and the Royal Spanish Federation of Vela.
The 2019 Paralympic World Sailing Championship, to be held in July in the waters of the bay of Cadiz, will have the participation of more than 150 regatists from all over the world. Quantity and quality as among the participants will be the last Paralympic medallists, as well as the Spanish representative in the last paralimiadas, the Andalusian Arturo Montes, along with other top exponents of the class.
The Andalusian will be the second major international event of the Paralympic season next to the one that will be held in September of this year at the US Sailing Center in Sheboygan (USA), another well-known race field worldwide.
