The 3rd Astoria Cup, 54th Torrevieja Trip - Cabo Roig 'Memorial Fernando Pedrera' closed yesterday one of the most popular editions of the race in recent years. After the official closure of inscriptions on the afternoon - Tuesday night 14 the participation was raised to a total of 46 ships.

In the sports, the Maverta of Pedro Gil and Trabuco of Francisco Martínez shone with their own light in the Torreviejense race, after the two races were completed: Torrevieja Trip - Cabo Roig in the morning and in the afternoon the 'technical to the wind' race with two great-sotavento tests in which the winner of the Astoria Cup was determined. Both contested under good wind conditions, both in the morning and in the afternoon, with wind of 8-9 knots of intensity on a axis of the 180º in the morning and with a similar intensity in the afternoon, but of the 125º.

The Trabuco place was the fastest to complete the 10.5 miles of tour, being its time spent of 01: 37: 25 hours. The second square in real time was for Maverta followed by the Bat Fandango 300 (CN Portmán) by Javier Sabiote. After obtaining the compensated times the podium was configured in the category ORC 1-2 with Maverta, Trabuco and Fandango 300.

In the rest of the classes, after obtaining the compensated times, the podiums were configured with Ozu Dos de Enrique Mena and C.A.F. de Rosendo Martínez, both of the RCN of Torrevieja and Brex, of Manuel Gambín of the RCR Cartagena in the class ORC 3. In the grouped fleet of ORC 4 and ORC E the three podium squares were for Fokis Team (ORC E), led by Mª Carmen Fernández and O'Marylou (ORC 4) of Jesus of Miguel, both of the local club and Brisa (ORC E) of Amelia Maseres of the CN Marina International.

As regards the group ORC Promotion the boat Bernique of Fernando Peña and sailing the CN Marina International was made with the final triumph, while his club partner: Sogai de Nelsón Crespo, was made with the third square. The second place was occupied by Liburna de Pilar Gil, from the nautical Torrevieja.

The Torreviejense Maverta was almost perfect as the real-time triumph in the first test was for the Bat Fandango 300. This first test was closed at ORC 1 to ORC 3 with Maverta, Fandango 300 and Ozu 2.

The second test of the day, keeping a wind of 10 knots of 125º, was going to be perfect for Maverta as he was going to achieve the triumphs in real time and compensated time. After the Torreviejense ship, the classification was closed with the same protagonists: Fandango 300 second and Ozu Two occupying the third square. In the classes ORC 4 to ORC E, the Fokis Team won in the first trial and O'MaryLou in the second.

With these results the General of the Astoria Cup in the classes ORC 1 to the ORC 3 with Maverta, Fandango 300 and Ozu Two, while in the group ORC 4 to the ORC E was configured with O'MaryLou, Piston Broke and Atolon 3.

The 3rd Astoria Cup, 54th Torrevieja Trip - Cabo Roig 'Memorial Fernando Pedrera' closes the registration with a total of 31 ships. The race organized by the Royal Nautical Club of Torrevieja and to be held in a single day, Wednesday, August 15, is divided into two phases: the first will be in the morning, with the emblematic regatta to Cabo Roig in which will take part the ORC 1, 2, 3, 4 and Promotion, while in the afternoon the organizing committee has planned two barlovent- sotavento tests for all classes except the Promotion, giving way to the Astoria Cup.

One more year, and 54 of them are already meeting the emblematic Cape Trip, the Royal Nautical Club of Torrevieja brings together the best ships in the southern area of the Valencia Community and the Murcia Region. In this edition are 31 ships that will take part in the Torreviejense test and that for 3 years has an added incentive as is the Astoria Cup.

Level and quality among those registered, highlighting the fifth ranked in the last Copa del Rey Mapfre in ORC 2 as is Maverta de Pedro Gil. The 'house' ship is not going to be the only protagonist as units like the Brex cartagJanuary, in ORC 3, are shown as another of the ships that may be on the podium. The bat was also present in the palmesan quote ending at position 21.

But they're not going to be the ones that will hoard all the starring in Torrevieja. Among the registered are the Bats Fandango 300, Argo Naviis 3 or Machaquito. As for the premises, in addition to the Maverta, also other units that enter the quinielas to be on the podium case of the Ozu Two, Black Octopus, Trabuco, Sopu Two, Apex, Lestes Two or My Lady.
