The Spanish-Leonese Emilio Merchán and Eva Barrios and the Galician Manuel Garrido have today achieved the gold medal in male and female K1 and C1, respectively, in the Spanish Marathon Championship 2018, which is disputed this weekend in the Madrid town of Aranjuez.

In K1, the Zamoran palist Emilio Merchán, of the Zamora Sports Activities Club, has won with a time of 2 hours and 15 minutes, followed by the Asturian Luis Amado Pérez, the Ribadesella Sports and Cultural Society, which has been second with a record of 2 hours and 16 minutes, and the Galician Iván Alonso, of the Olívico Club, third with a mark of 2 hours and 20 minutes.

In C1 the pontevedrés Manuel Garrido, of the Kayak Tudense, was imposed in C1 men (2 hours and 14 minutes), followed by Javier Bernal, the Zamora Sports Activities Club (2 hours and 24 minutes) and Pedro Areal, the Pamplona Piragüismo (2 hours and 25 minutes), second and third respectively.

In K1, the Zamoran Eva Barrios, of the Durius team, has won the victory with a 2-hour, 16-minute and 16-second chrono, after her in second place the Catalan Aurora Figueras, of the Banyoles, with a time of 2 hours, 16 minutes and 32 seconds, and in third the Madrilel Lucía Arquero, of the Aranjuez, with a mark of 2 hours, 17 minutes and 20 seconds.
