La RFEV desde el primer momento ha dado su apoyo y asesoramiento a Iker Martínez y así lo seguirá haciendo hasta que se clarifique la situación

The RFEV has since first given its support and advice to Iker Martínez and will continue to do so until the situation is clarified.

The Royal Spanish Vela Federation, in connection with the disciplinary resolution that punishes the sportsman Iker Martínez de Lizardy, exercised in accordance with the provisions of rule 69 RRV and paragraph 35 of the World Sailing regulations by the International Jury of the Hempel Sailing World Championships Aarhus 2018, observes the same understanding that it has occurred in accordance with the rules and procedures in force.

In the light of the facts underlying that resolution, the RFEV will carry out its own research in order to analyse what happened and take any measures that might be appropriate in compliance with the obligations imposed by the Pre-Olympic Regulation 3rd Cycle and in order to ensure compliance with the rules and principles governing the sport of sailing.

It is worth recalling that Iker Martínez is one of the best athletes in the world and has helped throughout his career to position the Spanish candle at the highest. In his curriculum, two Olympic medals, gold in Athens 2004 and silver in Beijing 2008, three world championships and three in Europe, stand out. In addition, Iker Martínez was recognized in 2006 with the Gold Medal for Sports Merit awarded by the High Council of Sports.
