The Vela Red is concentrated in Santander before leaving for Aarhus to the World Cup

Next week the Spanish pre-Olympic sailing team will set out to Aarhus for the last concentration and training before facing the World Championship to be held from 2 to 12 August in Denmark
The Vela Príncipe Felipe de Santander High Performance Center is hosting the last of the national team's concentrations to be held in the Sailing World Championship in Aarhus, Denmark in early August.
During the summer months the various national and Olympic-class teams have made concentrations in Santander focused on technification and sports performance. Both absolute and youth classes have passed through the Olympic team headquarters to get in touch with the international competitions they are attending during these months.
In the last two weeks it has been the crews of 49er FX that have concentrated in Santander and the Olympic champion and ocean regatist Támara Echegoyen is playing a leading role in the meeting. This is his first contact with the 49th FX and his new crew, the Mallorcan Paula Barceló.
It should be recalled that Echegoyen after winning the gold in London 2012 in the Elliott 6m class next to Sofia Toro and Angela Pumayega went to 49th FX, in which he formed Olympic team for Rio 2016 with Berta Betanzos, who a few months ago decided to withdraw from the high competition.
Along with Echegoyen and Barceló, these days are also training in Santander the sisters Carla and Marta Munté, current youth European champions of 49er FX and the team formed by Patricia Suárez and Nicole Van der Velden, all under the command of national coach Santi López- Vazquez.
To get a place for Spain in Tokyo 2020 for the 49er FX class is to be among the eight best countries in the world of Aarhus. "For this we need all our crews to be 100%, and that is why we have brought together a large group in Santander to train the fleet exits and measure the level of each team in race," Fernández added.
