The Nautico de Valencia distinguishes its current athletes and its legendary partners
The Real Club Náutico de Valencia celebrated the traditional verbena del Carmen on the terrace of its social place, with a cocktail dinner set with live music, attended by the club's president, Alejandro Fliquete, accompanied by several directors, as well as the general director of Sports of the Valencia General, Josep Miquel Moya, who gave the medals to the sports merits that the club gives each year, and the new prize for the sport without age that on this occasion was awarded on one of the most veteran partners, José Mª "El Nano" in the international class, who continues to compete in Snipe.
The party, which is held each year, serves as the opening of the summer at the club, and in it is delivered the medals that recognize the partners of 25 and 50 years of age linked to the entity, as well as the plates and badges to the athletes of the club that have made great gestures and achievements throughout the year in sailing, fishing or tennis, and that are a sample of the quality of the athletes of the RCN Valencia.
During the evening, insignia were given to Francisco Espí, third ranked in the Spanish Championship Class A; Jorge Navarro, second juvenile in the Spanish Championship Finn; Isidro Codoñer, second sub- 16 in the Spanish Championship Laser 4.7; Nacho Balaguer, autonomous champion 420; Jesús Florez-Estrada, absolute champion in the Autonomous of Laser-Radial; Enrique Seattle Urios Salinas, first classified in the autonomous ranking of the Optimist A class; and Simón Codoñer, first of the Autonomous ranking B.
As usual, the club also offered its recognition to the most outstanding sports gestures of the year, for teams or athletes who have been champions of Spain or obtained podium post in international races. The winners were Abdón Ibáñez, who last August was proclaimed World Champion Grand Master of Class A, Carlos Sánchez, first ranked sub-16 of the Spanish Laser Championship 4.7; Carlos Balaguer, who was third in the 420 World Championship in Open category and also proclaimed himself an autonomous champion of 420; Luis Senís, for his victory at the Nations Cup Swan Class and Agustín Granell, who was the winner in the Spanish Championship with reduced crew.
